Arkansas Soccer Association is hosting a Jamboree at Burns Park on March 9th in North Little Rock to start the 2024 season off. Games start around 8 a.m. & last kickoff is around 4 p.m.
When: March 9, 2024
Where: Burns Park Soccer Complex
The Rec Jamboree Schedule is final and is posted online. Link is below. All jamboree games will be five minutes shorter per half than the normal length of a CARL league game. Note that we have 102 teams participating (all but two teams, I believe, should have two games scheduled – the two other teams only have one game because they were the only ones that registered). Games start at 8:00 a.m. with the last games kicking off at 4:30 p.m. Fields will be packed all day! This also means that additional teams will be waitlisted (likely not being admitted at this point) and schedule adjustments are highly unlikely to occur, as we simply do not have open fields available to move games. We are working on food trucks at Burns Park as well. Burns Park will be collecting gate ($10 per car) so please be aware and ensure your teams are notified. ASA is covering the cost of referees so teams should NOT pay referees at the fields. In essense, this is a free event from ASA to welcome our recreational players back for the 2024 season with an exciting kickoff event. Games that are played in the jamboree ARE part of your CARL league schedule but since GS reads these as two separate events, you will see duplicated matches in your CARL league schedule. You can ignore the duplicated matches in CARL league play that were played during the Jamboree, unless both teams wish to play a rematch. Please note that this is a JAMBOREE. It is a celebration of the reopening of Burns Park and offering a more electric atmosphere for the recreational players who were unable to play in our two tournaments last year because of the tornado damage. It is NOT a tournament. Scores will not be posted. No winners. No awards. In short, we want this to be about the kids having fun and playing in an environment with a lot of excitement because of the number of games that will be occurring throughout the day. Coaches, parents, and players should bear this in mind, as we do not want to start the year with any behavioral issues, particularly for an event that is really just about getting soccer kickstarted again at Burns Park in 2024. Plus, a number of our referees are going to be greenhorns that are cutting their teeth on some of these matches and some of our ARs will be volunteers to help us with staffing. Please be kind. It’s all about the kids having fun. For those interested, there are two ACSL games (12:00 and 3:00 on Field 1) if you want to watch.
