Proposal to move the AR State Championships

Proposal to move the AR State Championships to the Fall:

1.        Move the U15 – U18 ASC to the same weekend as the U15 – U18 President’s Cup in the Fall but keep it two different competitions. 

2.       The ASC U13 & U14 age groups will play the same weekend as the President’s Cup in the spring, again as two separate competitions.

3.       Host another Cup (Governor’s Cup or something) in the spring (old ASC date) for the U15 and above teams that do not advance to Regional play.  This could be a showcase type event.

Reasoning:  US Youth Soccer has changed the roster freeze restrictions for the National Championship Series, enabling teams to make changes to its roster after the AR State Championships and prior to Southern Regionals.  With the High School season pushed even further into May it is difficult for teams to get back together and train prior to a spring cup.  This will allow teams to plan to attend Southern Regionals (financially and roster) in the fall.  It will also allow the teams that do not advance the opportunity to explore other options.
