Utah Youth Soccer Association Hire Chief Operations Officer, Assistant League Commissioner
Matt Rader and Scot Boyd fill Chief Operations Officer and Assistant League Commissioner Roles Respectively

Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA), the leader in promoting, developing and governing youth soccer in Utah, is excited to announce the appointment of Matt Rader to the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Scot Boyd to Assistant League Commissioner. In the role of COO, Rader will oversee the daily operations of the office while working closely with the League Commissioner, Member Services Manager, and the Events Manager. As Assistant League Commissioner, Scot will work with our League Commissioner to help oversee our state competitive leagues and serve as our in-house legal counsel.
Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Attridge is looking forward to the addition of these individuals to the UYSA Office, “I’m excited that we were able to add Scot and Matt to our office staff. Their experience, background, and commitment to the game will be incredibly valuable to our membership. They will be essential to improving our programming and service with the overall goal of improving our member’s experiences within the association.”
About the Hiring of Matt Rader
Matt Rader leaves behind a 12-year career with Real Salt Lake, but will look to utilize the relationships he built during his tenure with the club at UYSA. He started with RSL in 2008 in the ticketing department focusing on bridging the gap between the Major League Soccer franchise and Utah’s local youth soccer clubs. He spent the next 9 years promoting through the department while growing these relationships within the youth soccer community and helping to give local kids opportunities and experiences at the Real Salt Lake, Real Monarch and Utah Royals FC matches. In 2017 he was promoted to Chief Ticketing Officer where he led his staff to two all time revenue record years for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
UYSA promoted Bryan Attridge to CEO in August, and his first duty was the hiring of his replacement. Attridge says of Rader, “Matt will be a major asset to our organization and we’re incredibly lucky to get him on staff. He cares about the game and the community, and already has great relationships within our membership. He will be vital in UYSA pushing forward with a member first attitude and I’m excited to see what he’s going to accomplish.”
No stranger to the youth soccer landscape in Utah, Rader says, “During my 12 years at Real Salt Lake I've had the privilege of working very closely with the leadership at Utah Youth Soccer Association and all of its member organizations, so when the position of Chief Operations Officer opened up, it naturally peaked my interest. Being a fabric of the youth soccer community for all these years has allowed me to develop so many deep relationships that I look forward to strengthening in this role. Anyone who knows me knows that I am an extremely passionate person and handle all business dealings with the utmost integrity and respect. I couldn't be more excited about joining the association and continuing to build off the great foundation that has been laid over the years. Last but not least, I want to thank Bryan and the Board for entrusting me with this important position, it is truly exciting to know that my goals for the association align with the strategic vision of Bryan and the Board. We are looking at a bright future for the association.”
Matt and his wife Jen (current Marketing and Media Manager for UYSA) have one child, Leila (6.5 months), two dogs: Rizzo and Maggie, and one cat: Lil. They live in Holladay.
About the Hiring of Scot Boyd
Scot Boyd has had an extremely varied and accomplished professional history, one that has included 18 years as a litigator, roles as a general manager for a small soccer specific retail chain, as an assistant manager for a mortgage company, and as a league commissioner for a small soccer league in Idaho. Boyd’s experiences in law and his history with soccer, including his time serving as UYSA’s Discipline Committee Chair and as UYSA’s Protests and Appeals Committee Chair, will serve him well in his role assisting League Commissioner, Cindy Baron. Not only is his diverse background helpful as Assistant League Commissioner, but also as UYSA’s new In-House Counsel.
UYSA League Commissioner, Cindy Baron says of Boyd’s hiring, “It has become abundantly clear that UYSA has grown to a size that running its leagues requires the addition of another full time individual. I am excited to welcome Scot. He is an outstanding addition to the League Office and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. It is a huge step forward for our leagues.”
While he has been through many transitions through his personal and professional life, Scot says of his new role, “I am very excited for this next step in my work life. After years of doing what I was good at, I get to spend this part of my career serving the sport I love. Even the years on the discipline committee did not diminish my love for the game and my respect for everyone’s roles in helping develop and improve soccer for Utah’s players. I hope my background in all aspects of the game will help me serve the needs of Utah’s players, coaches, referees, administrators and parents.”
Scot has 3 children: Ri (19), Mackie (17), and Jamie (15). They reside in Sandy.
Both Rader and Boyd have started with Utah Youth Soccer Association as of Monday, September 9th.
