May 20, 2014 05:40 PM

It has just been announced that Iowa City Alliance club and Davenport Assumption high school standout Rose Ripslinger (Davenport) has been named the 2013-14 Gatorade Player of the Year (POY) for Iowa.  Ripslinger made history, becoming the only four-time POY, male or female in any sport in the 29 year history of the Gatorade award.  View all state winners here.

In a release from Iowa Soccer affiliate club Iowa City Alliance today, Director of Coaching Paul Dayrell shared, "Rose is an awesome role model for any young soccer player and her accomplishments have come through a combination of natural talent, hard work, practice, desire and incredible teammates with the same drive and aspirations. A humble girl who will always look to heap praise on her teammates and claim she is merely standing on the shoulders of giants, but Rose you thoroughly deserve to be there. Stand tall, you make us all very proud."

On behalf of the staff and board of Iowa Soccer, we share Paul's sentiments and are extremely proud of Rose, will never forget her part in making history with our first Regional Championship team and are pleased that she'll play her college career at Iowa where we can continue to watch her perform.

Congratulations to Rose for her accomplishments to date and we are eagerly awaiting the National POY announcement!
