In an action-packed tournament in Norco, California, Union Jerez, who play in CSA’s Soccer Latina league, finished runners-up at the Region IV Amateur Cup this past weekend.

The USASA Region IV Amateur Cup, which sees the champion qualify for the USASA Nation Cup Semifinals in August, played out at SilverLakes Park between four teams: Soccer Latina Union Jerez (CO), FC Long Beach (CA-S), PSU FC (OR), and LA Wolves FC (CA-S).
Union Jerez got off to a decent start, battling Cal South Adult State Cup finalist FC Long Beach to a 2-2 draw. The followed this with a sound 9-1 victory over PSU FC, with put them good for 2nd place with one group game remaining. LA Wolves FC made easy work of their first two games, winning 14-0 and 9-0 respectively.

Union Jerez and LA Wolves FC squared off for the first of two games to determine the Region IV Amateur Cup champion. The first matchup, which saw the conclusion of group play, was a hard-fought match in which LA Wolves FC scored the only goal of the game to put them atop group standings and take the home seed in the Championship. With PSU FC and FC Long Beach battling to an entertaining 5-5 tie, Soccer Latina Union Jerez clinched a berth in the final for a rematch with LA Wolves FC.
Round 2 went down to the wire as Union Jerez pushed LA Wolves FC to extra-time, but the Cal South team ultimately prevailed, scoring three unanswered goals to win the Championship game 3-0. Despite the end result, Soccer Latina Union Jerez put in a fantastic effort and was a perfect representative of Colorado Soccer on the regional stage!
