Frisco, Texas (Oct. 18, 2016) – Three North Texas Soccer alums were named to the TopDrawerSoccer NCAA Freshman Midseason Men’s Top 100 list. Five women’s players were selected to the Freshman 100 team earlier this week.
UCLA’s Reggie Cannon ranked eighth on the list, while the University of New Mexico’s Matthew Constant is listed at 12 and SMU freshman Eddie Munjoma finishes off the group at 66th. All three players are defenders who have experience with various U.S. Youth National Teams as both Cannon and Munjoma have each made two appearances for the U.S. Under-19 Men’s National Team this year, while Constant has played for the Under-17 Men’s National Team in the past.
Cannon has started every game for the 24th ranked Bruins and is fourth on the team in minutes played. Cannon also assisted the game-winner in UCLA’s 1-0 win over San Diego State University. The Grapevine, Texas native is a former North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) player and played club soccer with Solar Soccer Club and FC Dallas. Cannon played in the Chamber Classic Soccer Alliance Classic League from 2008-11. Cannon’s two appearances for the Under-19 USMNT came against Spain and the Canary Islands.
Constant has started 10 of New Mexico’s 12 matches, and the Lobos currently hold a 7-5 record. The former U-17 USMNT player is from Dallas and played youth soccer for the Dallas Texans. Constant played in the CCSAI Classic League from 2009-12.
Munjoma has appeared in 10 of SMU’s 13 matches while earning nine starts. Munjoma notched three assists – including the overtime game-winner in SMU’s 4-3 win over The University of Akron. The Dallas native is a North Texas ODP alum and played for Liverpool SC, Andromeda and FC Dallas before SMU. Munjoma’s two appearances for the U-19 USMNT came against Venezuela and Mauritania.
