State Cup Extravaganza

Competition was tight in all three SCYS events held on the weekend of December 6 and 7. Eight State Champions were crowned, 16 Regional Berths were earned and every player gave it their best to finish out their Fall 2014 season strong in the SCYS Bob Brantley Publix Challenge Cup, the SCYS Publix President’s Medal Cup or the SCYS Publix Open and Recreation Cup.

It was a cold, rainy and windy weekend, but both parents and players alike fought thru the adverse conditions to show their skills in their final event of the season. Each player was put to the test as most matches came down to the wire and required great skill and determination to secure a victory.

In the end unfortunately not everyone could go home champion, but every team competed hard and gave it their all to their goal of winning.

Success came from all across the state as 20 different clubs placed a team in a final in one of the three events with each district having at least 5 final appearances. The high level of parity and growth in team numbers means that each club in our state is doing an excellent job developing quality soccer players who love the game.
