Ogden, UT 5/21/2019 – Utah Youth Soccer has had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Ogden School District in an effort to help grow and develop their after school soccer program. Now, just wrapping up the third season since forming this partnership, UYSA joined the 300 youth participants of the program, handfuls of teachers turned coaches, and many school district employees for their end of the season jamboree event at the Spence Eccles Community Sports Complex in Ogden on Tuesday May 14 and Wednesday May 15, 2019.
This spring’s G.O.A.L.S program brought together 11 elementary schools from the Ogden School District to participate in this after school program for 3-6 graders. So who coaches these kiddos? Once the school bell rings, Ogden School District employees turn in their rulers and lessons plan, grab their whistles and training manuals and hit the pitch to coach the participants involved in this after school program.
Providing pug goals, soccer balls, t-shirts and training plans to the coaches, Utah Youth Soccer Association is thrilled to be able to offer the much needed equipment to help assist with this program’s growth.
A special guest appearance from Ogden City Soccer Club players, one of Utah’s amateur soccer teams considered monitoring the kick house and overseeing the event’s obstacle course.
Participants were bused from their respective elementary schools to the Spence Eccles Community Sports Complex on Tuesday and Wednesday.
New Bridge, Polk, Wasatch, Lincoln, James Madison, Shadow Valley, Hillcrest, Horance Mann, Gramercy, Heritage, and Taylor Canyon are the elementary schools participating in this program. The next scheduled jamboree will take place this upcoming fall.
