November 6, 2019-It only takes five to play is one of the many advantages of playing futsal.
Having kicked off in 2010 with 24 teams, New York Futsal has grown exponentially and enters its second decade this winter under the umbrella of the
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA). Expectations are for 250 squads, including 40 high school teams, participating this winter. Contributing to this dramatic growth are teams aligned with many top youth organizations, including Asphalt Green, Downtown United, Juventus, the Manhattan Soccer Club and the West Side Soccer League.
Good things come in small packages and this winter features the addition of a pee-wee division made up of Under-6 and Under-7 players. Just as with the other age groups, there will be games with certified futsal referees although no standings will be kept in the youngest age groups.
League play for both boys and girls from Under-6 to High School begins on the weekend of December 6 and 7, 2019 with games going until February 29 and March 1, 2020.
Don’t have a team to play on? Then register and New York Futsal will give you a uniform, a competitive team and a coach. Opportunities abound for kids who want to train in futsal as well.
Futsal, with five players on the pitch for each team, promotes quality touches and ball control in tight spaces and players utilize those skills when they return to playing soccer outdoors in March. Many of Brazil’s best players ever such as Pelé, Zico, Socrates, Bebeto, Ronaldinho and Marta all played a version of futsal as children.
New York Futsal games and training will take place at locations across Manhattan. For more information, please log on to

With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with nine leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association.
