Region 1 Chair Appointment - Utah Youth Soccer Board of Directors

The UYSA Board of Directors has appointed Russ Austin from Perry, Utah to fill the open Region 1 Chair position on the UYSA board. The position was recently vacated with former Region 1 Chair Allan Haycock moving out of state with his family. UYSA would like to publicly thank Allan for all of his years of service to the board and to the game.
Russ will fill the remainder of the Allan’s term, which runs until April, 2017. Said President Brian Smith, “I'm enthusiastic for the energy Russ will infuse into the board of directors with his experience and background in soccer and in business. Russ will be an asset to the mission and vision of UYSA and youth soccer in Utah.” Region 1 spans from Brigham City to the northern Utah border.
Utah Youth Soccer is divided into 6 regions with one representative from each region elected to the board. Filling out the 10 person board of directors is the president and two vice presidents, along with the CEO/Executive Director (non-voting member). Board meetings are open meetings held at the UYSA state office and are typically held on the third Thursday of each month. For an updated meeting schedule please visit utahyouthsoccer.net.
Per UYSA Bylaws the board of directors has the following responsibilities:
423 AUTHORITY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Board shall have the following powers and responsibilities:
1. To amend UYSA’s bylaws as provided herein;
2. To develop and enact policies for UYSA in conformance with UYSA’s mission and purposes;
3. To take actions legal and necessary to carry out UYSA’s mission and purposes, including the expenditure of funds and the execution of contracts.
4. To interpret and enforce UYSA Rules;
5. To establish financial policies and approve budgets;
6. To review and make decisions on applications for membership and affiliation;
7. To set and approve membership and other UYSA-related fees;
8. To approve chairpersons for standing committees;
9. To hire and fire office executives;
10. To grow membership and provide resources for that membership;
11. To identify and partner with funding sources;
12. To take all other actions described in or permitted by these bylaws.
