The 2016 US Youth Soccer Workshop at the NSCAA Convention is less than two months away, with dozens of educational sessions and exciting opportunities available to attendees. For a second year in a row, the Workshop will feature a poster session led by experts in their respective fields.

The US Youth Soccer Workshop at the NSCAA Convention, which will take place Jan. 13-17, 2016, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md., features educational sessions for those involved in youth soccer, including field demonstrations for coaches. In addition to the educational opportunities, the convention features an exhibit hall with more than 300 exhibitors expected, featuring the latest soccer equipment, technology, apparel, fundraising ideas and more.

The poster session, which takes place Friday, Jan. 15, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the US Youth Soccer booth, will allow attendees to have one-on-one conversations with experts in such areas as sports psychology, sociology, and health and development. The session will feature seven relevant topics accompanied by visual presentations of studies, findings and key information.

Attendees will be able to view the posters and discuss the topics with the leaders in their fields who are presenting the posters.

The following speakers will be present for the poster session:
  • Dr. Lindsey Blom Associate Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology, Ball State University
  • Dr. Stuart Currie Assistant Professor of Health and Human Performance, University of Tennessee at Martin
  • Dr. Rick Eckstein Professor of Sociology, Villanova University
  • Dr. Sheri Huckleberry — State Director, NSCAA
  • Dr. Max Trenerry Sports Psychologist, Mayo Clinic
  • Dr. Amanda Visek Associate Professor of Sports Psychology, The George Washington University
  • Dr. Jay WilliamsProfessor in the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise, Virginia Tech

The speakers will be present at the US Youth Soccer booth from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and the posters will be displayed for the remainder of Friday afternoon.

“We introduced the poster session at last year’s Workshop as a way to feature soccer-specific research and findings for attendees to view,” US Youth Soccer Director of Coaching Sam Snow said. “We’re excited to once again offer Workshop goers with an opportunity to view educational research that’s relevant to the game, in addition to having a welcoming setting to discuss the topics with the researchers themselves.”
