FRISCO, Texas (May 7, 2018) – Play continued at the 2018 US Youth Soccer North Texas Soccer State Cup, the premier club soccer competition in North Texas, as 52 of 175 teams competed on the second day of play with the hopes of claiming a state championship and the opportunity to advance to the 2018 US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Championships.
Teams in the 11-Under through 19-Under boys and girls age groups will play at Richland College and the University of Texas at Dallas. Champions will be crowned May 13, with the winners in the 13-Under through 19-Under boys and girls age groups representing North Texas at the 2018 Southern Regional Championships at Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Greensboro, N.C. from June 22-28, 2018.
North Texas Soccer State Cup champions will join the other State Cup champions, US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League winners and select wildcards at the Southern Regional Championships. Regional winners will then represent the South Region at the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships held at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco Texas on July 24-29.
The North Texas Soccer State Cup is the first step in the US Youth Soccer National Championships Series. Boys and girls teams in multiple age groups earn their way by competing against the top teams in their state and region. US Youth Soccer State Champions and selected wildcard teams are eligible to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. The champions in the 13U through 19U age groups from each regional event will compete against National League winners at the National Championships.
15-Under Girls
2017 State Cup semi-finalists Dallas Texans 03 Dallas will return to the semifinals after defeating FC Dallas Youth 03 White 2-1. Joining Dallas Texans in the semifinals are the defending State Cup Champions Liverpool 03 Elite, which secured Group B with a 2-0 win over Solar 03 Wells. Sting East 03 Hopkins earned its first win of the tournament 3-0 over DFeeters 03 Hanson.
16-Under Boys
2017 National Champions and defending State Cup Champions Solar 02 Stricker used a 9-1 win against Solar 02 Williams to move to the top of Group B. The 2017 Southern Regional Champions are joined by Solar 02 Williams White, which won 3-2 against Cruz Azul FC. FC Dallas 02 Red sits alone at the top of Group A after earning a 3-1 win against Dallas Kicks 02 Selecao.
16-Under Girls
Solar 02 Claros moved to the top of Group A after a 1-0 win over Dallas Texans 02 Dallas, while SRPL West runner-up Sparta FC 02 Elite and Frisco Fusion 02 battled to a scoreless draw in the other Group A match. 2017 State Cup semi-finalists Solar 02 Naizer earned a much needed 4-0 win against Sting North 02 Larry to remain in contention for a semifinals spot, while Solar 02 Fagen and FC Dallas 02 Premier battled to a scoreless draw in the other Group B match. Dallas Texans 02 West leaped to the top of Group C with a 4-0 win against Revolution 02.
17-Under Boys
Sporting United 01 Videla made it two wins in as many days with a 3-0 victory against Dallas Texans 01 Red, while Solar 01 Stricker moved to second place in Group A thanks to a 2-0 win over Azzuri FC 01. Elsewhere, FC Dallas 01 Red took control of Group C with a 3-2 win over 2017 State Cup semi-finalists FC Dallas 01 Central.
17-Under Girls
Fever United 01 DSC earned its first win of the tournament with a 4-1 victory over Dallas Texans 01 White. SRPL West runner-up Fever United 01 Guerra made it two Group A wins for Fever after the 2017 State Cup semi-finalists earned a 2-0 victory over Dallas Texans 01 Red North. Solar 01 Wells sits alone at the top of Group B after a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Dallas Texans 01 FTW, while FCUSA Texas 01 and 2017 State Cup semi-finalists F Dallas 01 West battled to a 1-1 draw. In Group C, 2017-18 National League third-place finishers Sting East 01 Dunstan earned its first win of the tournament against fellow Sting side Sting North 01 Larry. Solar 01 Fagen put itself in prime position to advance to the semifinals after a 3-0 win against Sting West 01 Wombough.
18-Under Boys
Defending State Cup champions and 2017 National Championships finalists FC Dallas 00 Premier will advance to the semifinals courtesy of a 2-0 win against Liverpool 00 Hansen. 2017 State Cup finalists FC Dallas 00 Boys will also be heading to the semifinals as a result of a 6-0 win against FC Dallas Youth 00 Central.
18-Under Girls
Three-time State Cup champions Dfeeters Kicks SC 00 began its tournament on a high note with a 8-0 win against Solar 00 Williams. Dfeeters North 00 Willis made DFeeters two-for-two in the age group with a 5-1 over Frisco Fusion 00.
19-Under Boys
AYSES 99 Gold remained in contention in the 19-Under Boys age group after edging out the defending State Cup champions Barcelona 99 1-0 in the only 19-Under Boy matchup of the day.
