Ogden City Soccer Club Picks Up Their Fourth Win of the Season
OCSC secures its spot in second place in the Western Conference with a win over Albuquerque Sol F.C. tonight. A beautiful ball of the foot of Gavin Flitton from behind the midfield line to the head of Blake Frischknecht gave OCSC the lead in the 42nd minute. The second goal of the match came off a pk drawn by Milan Iloski- Danny Darelli put it away to secure the lead by two.
On his thoughts about the match Coach Eric Landon says, “We came into the game knowing we wanted to win out in our next five games, and we knew Albuquerque traveled a long way to get here. We wanted to have a deep bench today and utilize it to run them down- And it worked. We got the goal from Blake right before the half, which really helped us going into half time and allowing us to bring in subs. Then Milan draws the PK. And then we’re sitting at 2-Nil. Albuquerque is a dangerous team, we got caught in transition a few times, but the guys handled it well and we managed to get out of the game with a shutout.”
On where goals are coming from, “Blake has had 6 goals in 6 games. He’s very dangerous for us. Milan and Eric got here last week and went to Colorado Springs with us. Milan had a pk in that game as well.”
On the plan for next match, “The second game in these two game stands has been difficult for us for whatever reason. We need to clean a few things up from today and know that Albuquerque is going to come at us with some energy."
On Man of the Match, “Zach Nielson gets the man of the match for the shutout.”
OCSC take on Albuquerque Sol FC again this Saturday, June 29th at 8pm at Spence Eccles Ogden Community Sports Complex.
