OCSC Fall to PC in 2nd Match of Season

Ogden, UT - 5/25/19

Ogden City Soccer Club Suffer First Loss in Second Match of Season Saturday May 25th

OCSC didn’t have to travel far to their first away match of the season Saturday as they took on Park City Red Wolves at Dozier Field at Park City High School. These two teams met for the second time this season in just 3 days.

Just like OCSC’s season opener, PC opened up the score sheet with an 8th minute goal from Innocent Twishime. It wasn’t until the second half that OCSC fought back to get an equalizer in the 53rd minute of play with a goal from Sammy Tojaga. Unfortunately, it wasn’t 10 minutes later that PC went up another goal from Luis Vargas to take back the lead which they kept through the remainder of the match.

After the game, Coach Eric Landon said that he thought his team maintained good possession, but they got caught too high at times. “They (Park City) did a good job at transitioning. And when they had chances, they finished them. To go down 1-0 so early was hard, but we chatted at half and came out with a ton of energy and scored in the first 10. Even though Park City ultimately won after Luis’ goal, I was happy with how the team responded and tried to chip away for the remainder of the match. We just ran out of time.”

Ogden City Soccer Club’s next match is at home against another 2nd year club, Colorado Pride Switchbacks U23. “Colorado has yet to play a match this season, so it is hard to know what to expect,” Landon said. “They have their two top scorers returning. They accounted for 11 of their goals last year, so we know we can expect them to be fast and physical up top. They lost Tucker Boone to MLS this season, but we know they have 5 or 6 coming up from Colorado Rapids’ Academy.”

In 3 meetings last season, Ogden City Soccer Club and Colorado Pride Switchbacks U23 went 0-0-3.

The match kicks off Thursday, May 30th at 7:30pm at The Spence Eccles Ogden Community Sports Complex. Watch Live Here: https://mycujoo.tv/video/ogden-city-sc
