TULSA, Okla. (June 14, 2017)North Texas Soccer teams got off at a strong start at the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup as ten teams went a combined 7-1-2 on the opening day of play.

The 2017 Region III Presidents Cup takes place June 14
-18 at Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa Okla. The tournament will feature teams in the Under-13 through Under-17/18 Boys and Girls age groups with the winners advancing to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, July 12-16 in Auburndale, Fla.

North Texas teams will join other Region III State Associations: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Texas and Tennessee.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a state, regional and national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

After giving up an opening goal to ESC 04 (SC), Under-13 Boys Chelsea East SC 04 responded with four unanswered goals to secure a 4-1 win on the opening day of play. Next up for Chelsea will be McAllen Rayados 04 (TX-S), who is currently tied with Chelsea FC at the top of Group C.

Under-13 Girls FC Dallas 04 Central fell to Arkansas Comets 2-0 on the first day of group play. Next up for FC Dallas is WSA 03 Black (OK), who lost a back-and-forth match with 04 CASL Jrs. 3-2.

KSA 14 2003 (TX-S) edged out Under-14 Boys FC Premier 03 Green to move to the top of Group B. Next up on the docket for FC Premier will be Eagle Express Red (TN), who won 1-0 on the first day of play.

Under-14 Girls Solar Chelsea moved to the top of Group C courtesy of a 2-0 win against Gulf Coast Rangers FC (AL) to open up the tournament. Solar will next face Impact FC (MS), who lost to MSK Rayados (TX-S) 5-1 to begin the tournament.

Under-15 Boys Dallas Kicks used a second-half game-winner to put away 02 CASL White North 1-0 and move to the top of Group C. Next up for Kicks is George FC 02 White (GA), who also won on the first day of play.

Under-15 Girls NTX Celtic 02 McCallum began the tournament in convincing form with a 3-0 win against Lady Lobos Rush Elite (TN). Celtic will face fellow day-one winner TFCA 02 Select (NC) to see who will take control of Group C.

Under-16 Boys Dallas Texans got off to a dream start at the Region III Presidents Cup with a 6-0 win against Bixby Highlanders (OK) in the Under-16 Boys age group. The Texans will next play SARU 01 Torre Fuerte, who defeated OFC 01 White 1-0 on the first day of play.

Sting West moved to the top of the Under-16 Girls Group A with a 2-0 win against 01 CASL Ladies White (NC). On the second day of play, Sting will face Boerne FC Thunder 01 (TX-S), who earned a 4-1 win against FKK 01 Florida Krush White (FL) on the first day of play.

Under-17/18 Boys Superior Aztecas 00 used a first-half goal and a penalty-kick goal to defeat SARU 00 Warriors (SC) 2-0 to begin the tournament. Next up for Aztecas are 99/00 OFC White (OK), who fell to Sporting Arkansas 00 Red (AR) 1-0 on day one.

Under-17/18 Girls Solar Chelsea 00 Volkan held the lead twice against Arkansas Rush 00/01 Black, but the Arkansas winners were able to equalize twice, and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Solar will next play Group B leaders OFC 00 White (OK) on the second day of play.
