
FRISCO, Texas (April 19, 2017) – High School students represented North Texas Soccer during the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Texas High School Soccer State Finals, which wrapped up April 14-15. All six State Champions featured North Texas Soccer players, including five of six Tournament MVPs and 34 All-Tournament players.
Kilgore High School outlasted Bridgeport High School in a shootout to claim the Class 4A State title. North Texas Soccer player Kaleb Jett was named MVP.
Wakeland High School Boys Soccer won the UIL 5A title 2-0 over Waller High School with the help of North Texas Soccer player and MVP Cody Sedatole. The senior forward and fellow All-Tournament player Matt Thomas, play club soccer for FC Dallas 98, where the duo has claimed four North Texas State Cup titles, two straight US Youth Soccer Region III Championships and US Youth Soccer National Championships trips.
Wakeland’s Jacob Miller joined Sedatole and Thomas on the All-Tournament team. The junior midfielder is a 2016 North Texas State Cup Champion and reached the 2016 Region III Championships semifinals with FC Dallas 99.
Dallas Jesuit High School Boys soccer defeated Arlington Sam Houston High School in the 6A State Championship 2-1 in overtime with a goal by North Texas Soccer player Christian Lerma. Lerma is a two-time North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) attendee and an All-Tournament player. MVP goalkeeper Luke Ostrander recorded nine saves and was named an All-Tournament player. Ostrander plays on Dallas Texans, with Jesuit teammate James LaRoe, who is a North Texas ODP alum. North Texas Soccer players Sergio Martinez, Nate Kopetsky and Mario Trevino from Arlington Sam Houston were also named All-Tournament players.
Stephenville High School Girls soccer took the 4A championship in a 2-1 win against Boerne High School with a goal from MVP and North Texas Soccer player Savannah Alford. The senior defender plays club for the Dallas Texans and is a North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) alum. Kyra Robison from semifinalists Athens High School was named an All-Tournament player and plays for Dallas Texans, where she won the 2016 North Texas State Cup.
Highland Park High School finished their season undefeated, beating Aledo High School 5-3 in the Class 5A Finals with two goals from MVP freshman Presley Echols. The North Texas Soccer ODP alum plays club for Dallas Sting, where she won the North Texas State Cup and reached the Region III Championships semifinals in 2015.
Aledo’s Cameron Huddleston was named to the All-Tournament team and plays club for Dallas Texans, where the four-year North Texas Soccer OPD alum won the 2016 North Texas State Cup.
