North Texas Soccer teams begin play at Region III Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 23, 2017) – The 2017 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships began with 27 North Texas Soccer teams looking to claim a regional title and secure a spot in the US Youth Soccer National Championships. Teams in the Under-13 through Under-19/20 boys and girls age groups competed at Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Greensboro, N.C. from June 23-29, 2017.

US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) West winners in the Under-13 and Under-14 Boys and Girls age groups along with champions and runner-ups in the Under-15 through Under-19/20 Boys and Girls age groups joined State Cup Champions and select wildcards at the Region III Championships. Regional winners will then represent Region III at the 2017 National Championships held at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco Texas on July 25-29.

The North Texas Soccer State Cup is the first step in the US Youth Soccer National Championships Series. Boys and girls teams in multiple age groups earn their way by competing against the top teams in their state and region. US Youth Soccer State Champions and selected wildcard teams are eligible to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. The champions in the 13U through 19/20U age groups from each regional event will converge in the finals with the National League teams.

U13G Dallas Texans

Under-13 Girls
Dallas Texans 05 South (TX-N) was defeated by NTH Tophat (GA) 3-0 to open the tournament. The mostly under-12 squad will look to secure points in its second game against Sporting Arkansas Red (AR).

Dallas Texans 04 South (TX-N) match had a little more drama, but ultimately the 04 Texans lost 2-1 to TSA Hurricane 04 Griffin (OK). SaMaya Mitchell scored the lone goal for the SRPL West Champions.

Under-13 Boys
FC Dallas East Gold (TX-N) lost to Liverpool IA (SC) 2-0 on day one. FC Dallas will play 04 GUSA Dynamo (NC) on the second day of play.

U14G Dallas Texans

Under-14 Girls
Dallas Texans 03 (TX-N) were unable to get past Florida Elite 2003 (FL) 2-1. The Texans will play Cabot Soccer Association (NC) on the second day of play.

Under-14 Boys
FC Premier 03 Opoku (TX-N) earned a point in its opening match of the tournament after a 2-2 draw against MFC Rush (MS). Edgar James broke the scoreless stalemate just two minutes in, but Rush would equalize. James doubled his goal-scoring total in the 56th minute for FC Premier, but Rush would respond again in the 70th minute as the match ended 2-2.

U15G Solar Grado

Under-15 Girls
A Kaleigh Naizer pair of goals would give Solar Chelsea 02 Naizer (TX-N) a 2-1 win against VHSC Attack 02 Black (AL). Naizer put her side up 1-0 in the 21st minute, before Attack equalized off a corner-kick in the 48th minute. Naizer’s second goal and the game-winner would come with just five minutes left to play in the second half.

Solar Chelsea 02 Grado (TX-N) got off to a dream start with Taylor Conway’s goal seven minutes into the match, but Laken Gallman would equalize for CSA North (NC) just seven minutes later. Solar would have its fair share of chances in the second half, but an equalizer could not be found thanks in part to a strong performance by the CSA keeper.

Under-15 Boys
Solar Chelsea 02 Stricker (TX-N), who already have claimed its first spot in the National Championships due to a second place finish in the US Youth Soccer National League, started the week off strong with a 4-0 win against USA MP 02 Premier (SC). Riley O’Donnell scored all four goals for the North Texas State Cup Champions.

Odyssey 02 (TX-N) fell 2-0 on the first day of play to ID Club Division 02 (TX-S) and will look to rebound on day two against Mandeville SC Lakers (LA).

Dallas Texans 02 South (TX-N) were narrowly edged out by Baton Rouge SC 02 Black (LA) 1-0 on the first day of play and will look to get a win on day two against Tennessee SC 02 (TN).

U16G Fever

Under-16 Girls
Fever United 01 Mariscal (TX-N) fell to UFA 01 Premier (GA) 2-0 to open play. The SRPL West champions will face Lonestar SC 01 Red (TX-S) on the second day of play.

Sting East Dunstan (TX-N) was edged out by neighbors to the north SLSC Cosmos 01 Lawless (OK) by a 2-1 score on the first day of play. Sting will play Tennessee SC Showcase (TN) on the day two.

Dallas Texans 01 (TX-N) got a first-half goal from Jenna Grace Patterson and a second-half goal from Sarah Ovalle to win 2-0 over FC Florida 2001 Elite Blue (FL).

Under-16 Boys
Solar Chelsea 01 Elite (TX-N) earned a strong 4-1 win against LA Fire JRs 01 Red (LA) to move to the top of Group A. Christian Perea and William Hitchcock scored goals to go with Samuel Coad’s brace.

Solar Chelsea 01 Stricker (TX-N) made it 2-0 for U-16 Boys Solar teams with a 3-2 win over South Carolina United FC (SC). SCUFC began the scoring in the 22nd minute, but Conner Carraher, Maxwell Winneker and Teren Tate would score goals for Solar to the give Solar the 3-1 lead. SCUFC would pull back within one goal with five minutes remaining, but Solar would hold on for the 3-2 win.

U17G Texans

Under-17 Girls
Dallas Texans Fort Worth Black (TX-N) earned a well-fought 3-2 win over Sunrise Sting 2000 (FL) to move to the top of Group D. Texans will next play UFA Milton 00 Premier (GA).

Solar Chelsea 00 Bates (TX-N) went up 2-0 against 00 GUSA Navy (NC) thanks to goals from Caylen Wright and Ashley Carter, but GUSA would respond with two goals of their own as the match ended 2-2.

Defending Region III Champions Dallas Kicks SC 00 (TX-N) will need to get results on day two and three if they have hopes of repeating after a 3-0 loss on day one. Dallas Kicks and Solar Chelsea will face-off on the second day of group play.

Under-17 Boys
FC Dallas 00 Premier (TX-N) took care of business on day one by securing a 1-0 win against FC Alliance Black (TN). Next up for FC Dallas Premier is a match against Concorde Fire Elite (GA).  

FC Dallas 00 Che (TX-N) defeated SLSC 2000 Blue (OK) 4-1 to open the tournament. FC Dallas Che will next play USA/MT Pleasant (SC) on the second day of group play.

U18G Sting

Under-18 Girls
Solar Chelsea 99 (TX-N) battled Arkansas Comets (AR) to a scoreless draw to open play. Solar will take on Florida Krush Black (FL) on day two of group play.
Sting Central 99 Parker (TX-N) and PTFC Lady Black (NC) engaged in one of the most exciting matches of the day, but Sting would ultimately fall 4-3 with goals coming from Jamie Fowler, Sofia Munoz and Julia Martinez.

Under-18 Boys
FC Dallas Premier 99 (TX-N) and Dallas Texans 99 Red (TX-N) sit at the top of Group A after one-goal wins on the first day of play. FC Dallas earned a 2-1 win against fellow North Texas side Solar Chelsea 99 Sawyer (TX-N), while Dallas Texans would win 3-2 over Ambush SC 99 Red (GA) courtesy of goals from Tanner Keough, Gabriel Segovia Plate and Wyatt Priest.

Under-19/20 Boys
FC Dallas 98 Premier Dymond (TX-N) got off to a rough start on day one by falling to OFC 98 (OK) 4-0. FC Dallas will play KSA 97/98 Premier College on the second day of play.

Barcelona 98 Blue (TX-N) was unable to find the back of the net, and was defeated by Nashville FC 98 Revolution (TN) 1-0. Next up for Barcelona is Birmingham United (AL) on day two.
