North Texas Soccer ODP well represented at US Youth National Camp

Four North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program players were selected as part of the US Youth Soccer ODP National Training Camp in Tampa, Fla. Alexa Barker, Bronwynn Blair and Lola Foley competed on the 2006 ODP Girls team, while Jacobo Betancourt competed on the 2005 ODP Boys team.

The camp took place Jan. 23-28 with training being held Jan. 24 and scrimmages occurring on Jan. 25 and 26. ODP teams scrimmaged local clubs including: Chargers SC, IMG Academy, Tampa Bay Rowdies and West Florida Flames. ODP teams combined for a perfect 16-0 record.

Barker, Blair and Foley contributed to the ODP 06 Girls team earning two wins in as many days. The ODP side first defeated West Florida Flames 06 Development Academy nnteam 9-0 before winning 2-0 against Tampa Bay ECNL on the second day of play. The trio represents three different North Texas clubs as Barker competes with FC Dallas Youth, Foley is a part of Solar SC and Blair plays for Sting SC, which won the 2018 North Texas State Cup.

Betancourt also enjoyed success as a member of the ODP 05 Boys team. Betancourt’s side defeated Tampa Bay Rowdies Development Academy 4-1 on Day One before edging out Chargers SC DA 1-0 on the second day of matches. Betancourt is a former South Texas ODP player that currently plays in the FC Dallas Youth system. Betancourt reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Championships with FC Dallas 05 North Blue.
