
FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 8, 2017) – North Texas Soccer players and 2016 US Youth Soccer National Champions with Solar Soccer Club Alexis Missimo and Olivia Pena traveled to Germany with the U.S. Soccer Under-15 Women’s National Team to compete in a pair of friendlies against the Germany U-15 WNT.
The first match was played Nov. 1 in Marburg, Germany and resulted in a 3-2 win for the red, white and blue. Missimo was subbed in at the 35th minute, and would net the eventual game-winner in the 70th minute. Pena made her appearance in the 50th minute.
The second match, which occurred two days later at Stadion Wetzlar in Wetzlar, Germany, resulted in a 6-1 for the U-15 USWNT. Both North Texas Soccer players started as Missimo would be subbed out in the 51st minute, while Pena was replaced in the 32nd minute.
Missimo is making her second international trip with a U.S. Youth National team after travelling to Belgium last May with the U-16 USWNT, while this marks the first international trip for Pena. This age group of players is in the first year of a two-year cycle as U-15s before transitioning to U-17s in 2019 when they will form the core of the team that will attempt to qualify for the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Missimo and Pena won the 2016 National Championships in Frisco, Texas with Solar Chelsea Red. In addition to becoming National Champions, Solar has won two US Youth Soccer North Texas State Cup titles and the 2016 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships. Missimo was named to the 2016 National Championships Best XI team, while Pena was a member of the North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) from 2015-16.
