FRISCO, Texas (May 21, 2019) – Former North Texas Soccer players and current FC Dallas players Paxton Pomykal and Edwin Cerrillo are headed to Poland with the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team to compete in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held from May 23 to June 15. Current FC Dallas player Brandon Servania and former FC Dallas player Chris Richards will also compete with the U-20 USMNT.

The United States will begin the tournament on Friday, May 24 against Ukraine (2:30 p.m. ET; FS1), before facing Nigeria on Monday, May 27 (2:30 p.m. ET; FS1) and finishing group play on Thursday, May 30 vs. Qatar (2:30 p.m. ET; FS2).

Pomykal competed with the Under-20 USMNT team that won the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in November 2018. Pomykal appeared in all eight matches, including six starts while tallying three goals. This MLS season, Pomykal has started eight games for FC Dallas and has scored two goals while also dishing out an assist.

The Highland Village, Texas native competed in the North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) in 2011 and competed in the 2011 North Texas Soccer State Cup with Dallas Texans before joining the FC Dallas Youth system.

While he has yet to debut for the U-20 USMNT, Cerrillo has plenty of professional experience to call upon. The midfielder from Waco, Texas, who signed as FC Dallas’ 24th Homegrown Player prior to the 2019 season, has started seven games for FC Dallas this season and recorded an assist in a 2-1 win against Atlanta United. Cerrillo competed with the Waco Blast from 2011-12 before joining the FC Dallas Youth system.
