North Texas ODP teams dominate at Sport Source Showcase

FRISCO, Texas (Dec. 8, 2017) – North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams combined for a 13-1-1 record at the 2017 Sport Source Showcase in McKinney, Texas this past weekend. The North Texas ODP 01 Boys, 02 Boys, 03 Boys and 03 Girls went a perfect 3-0 and scored a combined 36 goals while only conceding four.

North Texas ODP provides supplemental training on an elite level through nationally licensed coaches. North Texas ODP players compete on the state level in various camps, college showcases and tournaments and have the opportunity to advance to the regional and national level, where ODP players can be involved in international trips, national camps and Interregionals. ODP also provides an additional avenue for players to get exposure to college coaches.

North Texas ODP 01 Boys went 3-0 at the showcase by defeating Lonestar 01 Red (TX-S) 1-0, River Valley FC (AR) 2-1 and Rise SC 01 Elite (TX-S) 4-0 in their three matches. North Texas ODP 01-02 Girls went 1-1-1 at the Sport Source Showcase this weekend. After a scoreless draw against Lonestar 01, North Texas ODP 01-02 defeated River Valley FC (AR) 2-1 before falling to Dallas Texans in the final game of the showcase.

North Texas ODP 02 Boys defeated Albion Hurricanes 02 (S-TX) 4-0 in its opening match thanks to a Cole Hudson brace in addition to goals from current Solar 02 Stricker players Ethan Orozco and Johnathan Sauceda. Orozco won the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships with Solar this past summer in Frisco, Texas. North Texas 02 Boys would then win 3-0 over Lonestar Austin (TX-S) thanks to Hudson’s third goal and goals from Michael Myers and Ceser Solis. Myers currently plays with Odyssey 02 (TX-N), which made its debut in the US Youth Soccer National League this weekend. Myers and Solis would net braces, and Jackson Booth would score his first goal of the showcase in North Texas 02’s 5-0 win against Real Arkansas (AR) in the third game. Nick Bogdan and Roman Torres led the team with three assists each for the tournament. Solar’s defense, led by 2017 National Championships Golden Glove winner Christopher Edwards, failed to surrender one goal.

North Texas ODP 03 Girls went 3-0 this weekend after defeating Lonestar Austin 03 (TX-S), AR United 03 Navy (AR) and Albion Hurricanes 03 (TX-S). Bailey Brewer and Hanna Khan each scored a pair of goals to go with a goal from Kaitlyn Via to defeat Lonestar 5-0. Brewer’s hat trick against AR United was the difference as North Texas ODP 03 won 3-0 in the second game. Brewer added a sixth goal on the weekend to go with Hanna Khan’s third goal of the tournament to give North Texas ODP 03 the 2-1 win over Albion Hurricanes. Brewer plays her club soccer with Dallas Texans, while Khan’s Sting West 03 side finished in fourth place of the 2017 US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) West this season.

North Texas ODP 03 Boys defeated Houston Texans 03 1-0, Dallas Roma 03 3-1 and Classic Eagles 03 3-1 in its three Sport Source Showcase matches. D’Adrian Umanzor’s goal was the difference in North Texas ODP 03’s 1-0 win against Houston Texans, while Grant Isbell, Eder Najera and Abhinanhan Rajaiyan all found the back of the net in North Texas ODP 03’s 3-1 win over Dallas Roma. Najera and Rajaiyan would both net a second goal of the tournament, and Dylan Watson would add a goal to give North Texas ODP 03 a 3-1 win over Classic Eagles.
