North Texas ODP teams begin 2017-18 Season

FRISCO, Texas (October 12, 2017) The North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) 2017-2018 season has begun with 656 North Texas Soccer players in the 2001-07 boys and girls age groups training for the opportunity to represent North Texas in regional camps, friendlies, US Youth Soccer interregionals and in select age groups, international trips.

Over 550 new players began tryouts in August and wrapped up in September as over 300 participants joined existing ODP players who returned from the previous season. Last season, North Texas ODP teams competed in the FC Dallas College Showcase, 2017 North Texas ODP Sub-Regional Friendlies, US Youth Soccer Region III Camp to name a few, and select players in the 01-02 boys age group traveled to Costa Rica, where they competed in friendlies against local clubs Heredia, Codea, Cartago and Escazu. Off the field, the North Texas ODP team visited a children’s community center that cares for and educates around 200 low-income children under the age of 12.

North Texas Soccer ODP creates a positive, competitive and inspiring learning environment that is unique and conducive to the enhanced development of players and coaches, ultimately preparing as many players as possible for the State, Regional, & National Team level and the international arena.

The benefits of playing North Texas Soccer ODP include: quality instruction from state and nationally licensed coaches, including coaches from area universities, increased exposure to collegiate coaches, the opportunity to train and compete with and against talented players and the opportunity to represent North Texas in state, region, or national competitions.

Former North Texas ODP players include U.S. National Team players: Clint Dempsey, Emerson Hyndman, Greg Garza, Omar Gonzalez, Lee Nguyen, Abby Smith and Taylor Smith, and professional players: Reggie Cannon (FC Dallas), Amanda Frisbie (Boston Breakers), Jared Jeffrey (DC United), Mikey Lopez (NYCFC), Weston McKinnie (Schalke 04), Dillon Powers (Orlando City FC), Paxton Pomykal (FC Dallas) and Chioma Ubogagu (Orlando Pride).
