North Texas ODP - Sub-Regional 2021

Over the weekend of March 11th – 13th, North Texas ODP hosted round robin games against ODP teams from Georgia, South Texas, and El Paso. The Sub-Regional served as the final event to close out the 2020-21 season of State programming, as well as a last chance opportunity for players to be evaluated and selected for the Region ID Event, being held in Tennessee next month. As an added bonus multiple college coaches came out to the event and scouted ODP players for their respective programs. Click HERE for pictures from this event.

Group Recaps

2004 Boys (17-Under)

With this being their last event representing North Texas as a State Team, the 2004 Boys took full advantage of the occasion. They wrapped up the event undefeated, outscoring their opponents 10-3 across the weekend. They started off with a last minute goal to come away with a draw against South Texas Red, and built off that momentum collecting wins against STX White and Georgia.

2004/05 Girls (17-Under)

The 2004 and 2005 Girls joined forces for their weekend of games in a combined 04/05 age group. The girls started the event with a tough loss to STX 05 Red, but quickly followed that up with a win over STX 05 White. In a back and forth game against Georgia the two sides couldn’t separate themselves, ultimately ending in a tie. In their final game of the weekend the girls unfortunately fell to STX 04.

2005 Boys (16-Under)

Two 2005 Boys capped off a very effective year with an impressive showing of games. Picking up wins against all three of their same age opponents. They squared off against 2005 teams representing Georgia, South Texas White, and South Texas Red. To finish off the weekend they played up against South Texas 04 and in a hard fought battle came up one goal short in a very evenly matched game.

2006 Girls (15-Under)

A group that can be describe as no less than warriors, the 2006 Girls were spread thin across two teams to accommodate some last minute changes with other states. 21 girls overall would combine their talents across seven games in three days to complete the weekend. To top it all off they finished the event undefeated with four wins and three ties, while only conceding three goals.

The Red team picked up a win against El Paso, while drawing Georgia 1, South Texas, and playing up against South Texas 05 Red. The White team bagged three wins against El Paso, and Georgia 1 & 2.

2006 Boys (15-Under)

The 2006 Boys had two teams in the event, finding similar success to their female counterparts. The Red team compiled two wins and a draw, taking down both South Texas Red & White. While having the lone tie come against Georgia 1.

The White team continued the quality in the age group dispatching of Georgia 2 to start off the weekend. Saturday saw them split their games finding a win against El Paso, and loss against Georgia 1. However, they finished strong knocking off South Texas White on Sunday.

2007 Girls (14-Under)

The 2007 girls had a slow start dropping their opening match against South Texas Red. Though that didn’t deter them, as they would find success in their following two games. They took down Georgia and South Texas White in tooth and nail games coming away with one goal wins in each.

2007 Boys (14-Under)

The 2007 boys added their name to the list of undefeated teams over the weekend. In a rematch with their semi-final opponent from the Regional Championships last year they drew with Georgia 1 in another defensive stalemate. That was followed up with three straight wins over STX White, Georgia 2, and STX Red.

2008 Girls (13-Under)

Scoring was not hard to find in the 2008 Girls games, across their four contests there were 20 goals scored. They started off playing both the South Texas Red 08 & 07 teams, oddly enough both games ended with the same score line of 3-3. In another rematch of last year’s Regional Championships semi-final, the 08 Girls again found themselves up against Georgia, unfortunately succumbing to the same result with a near one goal loss. To cap off their weekend they found a win against South Texas White in another high scoring affair 4-3.

2008 Boys (13-Under)

Another age group where two teams represented North Texas. The 2008 Boys Red team had a clean sweep of games taking down South Texas Red & White, and Georgia 1 & 2. The win against Georgia 1 served as a bit of revenge as it settled the score from their semi-final loss to them at the Regional Championships last year.

The White team were tested in three competitive match ups against Georgia 1 & 2, as well as El Paso. Ultimately they didn’t find a win on the weekend, but learned lessons to build on moving forward.

2009 Girls (12-Under)

The 2009 Girls Red team started off on the right foot collecting a 2-1 win against South Texas White. A reversed score line occurred when the faced off against South Texas Red in a tough loss. They concluded their weekend with a loss to Georgia 1.

The White team found themselves on the wrong side of some close games having one goal losses to Georgia 2, and South Texas Red & Blue. Their final game against South Texas White had similar results with the 09 girls falling to their southern opponents.

2009 Boys (12-Under)

The lone group to have three teams in the event, the 2009 Boys Red team found ample success as another undefeated team from North Texas. Their event started with a high scoring tie with South Texas Red, but concluded with two 2-1 wins over El Paso and Georgia 1.

The White team had an even .500 record across three games. Finding a draw against Georgia 2, their lone loss coming to South Texas White, and a victory over Georgia 3 to finish on a high note.

The Blue team battled tough all weekend surrendering just one goal each game. Unfortunately they weren’t able to find the back of the net and dropped games to Georgia 3, and South Texas White & Blue.

2010 Girls (11-Under)

The youngest ODP age group for the 2020-21 season, the Red team went an even 2-2. Their first game was tough sledding as they fell to a quality Georgia 1 team. They bounced back picking up wins against South Texas Red and Georgia 2. Their final game of the weekend saw them fall in a narrow defeat to El Paso.

The White team had an equal amount of games as the Red, competing in four games against the likes of South Texas White, Georgia 1 & 2, and playing an age up against South Texas 09 Blue. The 10 girls unfortunately fell to their rivals in each match.

2010 Boys (11-Under)

The 2010 Boys had a balanced weekend. The Red team opened up with a loss to South Texas Red, though it would be their only one of the weekend. Saturday saw them play against both Georgia 1 & 2, matching the 1 side goal for goal in a draw, while they moved into the win column over the 2 side. Completing their weekend on top with a win over El Paso.

The White team had the same start as their Red counterparts, falling to Georgia 2 in their opening game. This same result came against El Paso, however, they came back strong in their closing match, picking up a win against South Texas White.
