FRISCO, Texas (March 20, 2018) - A majority of the U.S. Soccer Youth National Teams are in action this month in addition to both the USMNT and USWNT senior teams, and North Texas Soccer is well represented among those teams.
Over 20 players who hail from North Texas will wear the red, white and blue this month. Four of those players are former US Youth Soccer National Champions as Taylor Smith (USWNT) won the 2010 National Championships with Solar 94, Julie James (U-23 USWNT) captured the 2011 national title with Sting, while Alexis Missimo (U-16 USWNT) and Trinity Byars (U-15 USWNT) claimed the 2016 National Championship with Solar SC Red.
Smith plays her professional soccer for the Washington Spirit and recently competed with the USWNT in her first SheBelieves Cup, where the USA was crowned champions. Two more professional players Weston McKennie and Paxton Pomykal, join the list of North Texas players competing on U.S. National Teams. McKennie, who recently returned from injury to FC Schalke 04’s starting line-up, was included in the USMNT squad that will face Paraguay on March 27 in Cary, N.C. Pomykal, who got his first action of the MLS season in a 3-0 FC Dallas win over the Seattle Sounders, is the 15th Homegrown player signed by FC Dallas.
