Nebraska Teams Qualify for President's Cup

Omaha, NE (April 6, 2016)- This summer three teams will be traveling to Westfield, IN to participate in the Region 2 President’s Cup tournament.  Beginning this year, the first place teams from the Nebraska League first division (fall season) are invited to represent our state in the regional tournament.

President’s Cup is a regional and national US Youth Soccer tournament, much like the National Championship Series, that allows first division level teams to compete for a national title.  Teams from Nebraska will play against teams from other Region 2 states June 16-20 hoping to advance to the National President’s Cup tournament in Tulsa this July.

“I think our teams have a great chance to do very well at the Regional level and I think it’s important we get our state involved in such a great program,” said Crystal Collins, Marketing and Communications Director for Nebraska State Soccer, “We knew it would take some education on our part to get the word out there and that includes offering it to the right level of teams.  With the help of the Nebraska League rankings I think we have found a great fit. We are all excited to be sending three teams this year and can’t wait to follow them on their journey!”

The teams who will be representing Nebraska include:

               U13 Boys- Lexington Unifut

               U13 Girls- Gretna Prima White

               U15 Girls- Papillion Esperanza

Congratulations to these teams and good luck in Indiana this summer!
