North Texas Soccer will be hosting the National Youth License (NYL) Coaching School in Frisco on June 14th thru 16th, 22nd and 23rd. Location for coaches’ meetings and field activities will be in the Frisco area.
The National Youth License focuses upon the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. The course curriculum covers ages from 4 thru 12 years old. Each day the course, the focus is upon one of the traditional soccer age groups of U6, U8, U10, or U12.
The National Youth License Coaching School is recommended for coaches coaching in the various clubs youth academy programs, director of coaching for local playing associations, club academy coaching directors, and those coaches who would like to improve their coaching skills at these age groups.
An “A” Licensed professional coach who attended the NYL comments: “…this is an ‘A License’ course for those coaching these age groups.”
The course explores the following: the role of the coach as a facilitator, the physical, mental, and emotional needs and capabilities of players from 4-12, lessons from developmental psychology, and the art of teaching. Candidates are videotaped for analysis during live training sessions. The course combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) session and concludes with written, oral, and practical examinations.
