WHO: 32 teams from Indiana representing 32 countries or international regions. Teams will have rosters of 10-14 players. Participants for each team:
- must be 18 or older
- be from the country they are representing, or have a parent or grandparent from that country
- will be chosen by an appointed team captain, or “Ambassador” ... this Ambassador will coordinate team selection and promotion of the Cup within his or her international community.
WHAT: A competitive three-day futsal tournament taking place in a “world cup” format. Teams will be divided into groups and play three games in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will move on to a single-elimination tournament.
Futsal is a version of soccer played on a hard surface with a smaller, heavier ball and teams of five-a-side. This format of play emphasizes ball control and skillful technique as players have a smaller space to utilize.
The event is open to the public all three days and will include music, food vendors, a beer garden and a Kids Zone including an interactive street soccer demonstration
