Indiana Soccer Concluded Successfully the 2017 Indiana Memorial Cup

The 2017 Memorial Cup Successfully Concluded This Past Weekend.
Over 140 Teams Participated From 29 Youth Clubs

Indiana Soccer Association hosted the 3rd Indiana Memorial Cup over the past weekend at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. The Weekend was filled with fun and excited teams formed by girls and boys 12U, 10U and 8U.  A total of 144 teams from 29 clubs participated with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement.  Indiana Soccer was very pleased with the amount of families that gathered to remember and honor those who lost their lives before the age of 21.

“The Memorial Cup was a great fun and yet competitive event with lots of great and well organized teams who participated to honor and remember those players and referees whose lives were cut short,” Indiana Soccer’s Executive Director Dave Guthrie, stated.  “It is an honor to be a part of a soccer community such as the one here in Indiana, which not only cares about competing, but also, cares about recognizing and remembering those players and referees who showed love and passion for the sport while being with us.”  Guthrie, continue.  "Thank you to the families for letting us provide this opportunity to honor their children… we look forward to many more years of the Memorial Cup,” Guthrie, concluded.
Proceeds raised at the event benefitted the Indiana Soccer Foundation scholarship fund for players who demonstrate financial needs to participate in soccer. The Indiana Soccer - Futsal initiative was also benefitted, which helps to bring the sport of soccer to underserved urban and rural communities by developing futsal courts.
Special thanks to the Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training (IFAST) for sponsoring this event by providing the trainers to take care of players participating.  Also, thanks to Yokohama Tires and youth soccer development expert Vince Ganzberg for providing an opportunity for children to test their foot skills.
