Indiana Futsal Sending Delegation to Cuba in May in Cross-Cultural Collaboration
We all know that futsal is gaining popularity across Indiana … but did you know street soccer is quickly becoming a Cuban pastime as well?
Through a budding collaboration with the Artecorte Community Group in Havana, Indiana Futsal has been given the incredible opportunity to share its expertise in building the sport to organizers in Cuba via a planned trip this May.
The five-person delegation representing Indiana Futsal and the Hoosier State will lend its knowledge on tournament organization, court building and other areas, while also bringing along donated equipment to help put these ideas into action. The cross-cultural exchange of ideas will also see Artecorte lend its best practices on utilizing artists to add a community-building aspect to court design and insights on how it has provided access to the sport to children, especially in urban areas.
While you cannot make the trip to Cuba with us, you can still help make it happen! The Indiana Futsal delegation is looking to collect $5,000 ($1,000 per person) to help offset travel costs and expenses and purchase equipment donations for the trip.
Start by making a donation of any size to our Kickstarter Project Here. Then, get stuck even more by helping spread the word to your friends and family about a pair of additional fundraisers:
1. Arsenal Tech Futsal Tourney on Sunday, May 6, featuring adult and youth divisions … email Justin@indianafutsal.org for registration details.
2. Concert at 1417 Ruckus Makerspace on Friday, May 4, featuring international music spun by Cultural Cannibals curator DJ Kyle Long, food by El Venezolano and raffle prizes and giveaways. For details about the concert visit the Indiana Futsal Facebook Page.
