with Support from Idaho Youth Sports Commission

February 4, 2019, Boise, ID– Idaho Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) has established a multi-year partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth athletes, coaches, and parents a positive, character-building sports experience.

The partnership provides IYSA access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes and administrators, comprising of live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA founder Jim Thompson and additional online resources, such as e-mailed follow-up tips and reminders.

“We look forward to working with IYSA to create the best possible experience for their youth athletes, coaches, and parents.” PCA Portland’s Spencer Gordon said. “Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve their overall experience while also ensuring kids take life lessons from sports that will help them throughout the rest of their lives.”

“This partnership aligns directly with our mission to help educate parents, coaches, players and referees.” Craig Warner, IYSA Executive Director said. “It will provide our membership with a valuable learning opportunity, as well as a host of new educational resources both electronically and in-person. Thanks to the partnership with IYSC and the PCA we can now take that mission to the next level.”

This partnership will also include support in the form of grant funds from the Idaho Youth Sports Commission (IYSC). Tim Brady, IYSC director said, "The Idaho Youth Sports Commission is excited to help bring the PCA to the Idaho Youth Soccer and the state of Idaho."

The workshops are currently in the process of being confirmed/scheduled across the State. For information about the dates and locations, please contact Nicole Vaughan at nvaughan@idahoyouthsoccer.org.
