Idaho Youth Soccer Association Releases Policy on Poaching of Players

April 5, 2019 — In February of this year, Idaho Youth Soccer Association’s Staff and Board of Directors implemented a new policy called the Policy on Poaching of Players, replacing the Illegal Recruiting Policy.

The IYSA Policy on the Poaching of Players is intended to make it easier and less stressful for players to choose what team to play for during each tryout cycle, while also giving clubs the security to know that their participation agreements mean something once a player has committed to play. We also wanted to increase the communication from club to club, and hopefully decrease animosity between organizations. The greatest gift any team can have is a worthy opponent. When all the clubs are strong then each individual club benefits, so it just makes sense that organizations get along with one another rather than work to cut each other down. Hopefully clubs and players alike see this new policy as an opportunity to put the needs of the player first.

Craig Warner, Executive Director of IYSA says: “The new Poaching policy is long overdue and reflects changes that were needed given the current youth soccer landscape in Idaho. This is a culmination of a years’ worth of work to ensure we keep our members best interest in mind.”
