July 23, 2013 08:16 PM

North Texas Soccer would like to congratulate Irving's Guameru SC which won the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup U-15 Boys championship in Auburndale, FL. Guameru defeated International SC St. Thomas (NV) in a close 2-1 match to claim the championship. Guameru got the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute from Samuel Morales, but International quickly recovered four minutes later on a goal by Jose Sepulveda. Before the first half was over, Alfredo Rangel found the back of the net in the 37th minute, and Guameru’s strong defense helped keep the 2-1 lead for the rest of the match to win the title.

The victory was especially sweet for Guameru after it dropped a 1-0 decision to International in the opening preliminary match. However, Guameru rebounded to defeat Classic Eagles Black (OH-S) 5-2 and CROF A3 United (MD) 2-0 in other preliminary action to set up the rematch with International in the finals. International entered the final match with an undefeated 2-0-1 record in the prelims.

Rangel finished with three goals in the championship pool, which was second most of any player in the pool. Jonathan Mendez and Jefry Umanzor each had a pair of goals during the weekend.

Guameru is coached by Tirzo Capizo.
