TULSA, Okla. (June 17, 2017) – Of the ten North Texas Soccer teams that began play at the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup, four have advanced to the finals with the hopes of a regional title and a spot in the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup.

The 2017 Region III Presidents Cup takes place June 14-18 at Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa Okla. The tournament will feature teams in the Under-13 through Under-17/18 Boys and Girls age groups with the winners advancing to the 2017 National Presidents Cup, July 12-16 in Auburndale, Fla.

North Texas teams joins other Region III State Associations: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Texas and Tennessee.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a state, regional and national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

A late second-half goal would propel Alianza Gold 04 (GA) over Chelsea East SC 04 (TX-N) 2-1 in the semifinals. Alianza began the scoring in the first half, and Chelsea would equalize mid-way through the second half. Things looked to be headed to kicks from the mark, but Alianza would find the back of the net for a second time to advance to the finals.

Under-14 Boys
MST United Stars (FL) got out to a quick 2-0 lead against FC Premier 03 Green (TX-N), and the score would remain for the rest of the match with MST advancing to the finals.

Under-14 Girls
Solar Chelsea Wells (TX-N) recorded its fourth shutout in as many games and third 2-0 win in the semifinals against Warner ASG (FL). Allison Peck broke the scoreless stalemate in the 32nd minute, and Paola Quiroga would double Solar’s lead towards the end of the second half. Solar will look to qualify to the National Presidents Cup with a finals win against 03 ACS Orange (NC).

Under-15 Boys
RGV FC Dallas 02 (TX-S) scored two early goals and added a third in the second half to win 3-0 over Dallas Kicks (TX-N). Dallas Kicks had only surrendered one goal in their three group-play matches.

Under-15 Girls
NTX Celtic 02 McCallum (TX-N) and OFC White (OK) needed kicks from the mark to determine who would advance to the finals after the match was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. NTX Celtic would ultimately prevail to secure a spot in the finals.

Under-16 Boys
Dallas Texans 01 Red (TX-N) were on the winning side of kicks from the mark after their match against Sporting Arkansas 01 (AR) ended 2-2 Dallas Texans will face PDN Rush Sharks (TX-S) in the finals.

Under-16 Girls
FC Dallas TRI (TN) earned a 1-0 win over Sting West 01 Jones (TX-N) to advance to the finals. Sting pressed hard in the second-half to find an equalizer, including multiple shots off the post, but FC Dallas would hang on. The 1-0 win was the only goal that was scored on Sting in the entire tournament.

Under-17/18 Boys
Superior Aztecas 00 (TX-N) used two early goals to ultimately defeat Lakeway Lightning (TN) 3-1 and advance to the finals. Aztecas will take on 00 CASL White North (NC), who won in kicks from the mark today, in the finals.
