
FRISCO, Texas (April 17, 2018) – North Texas Soccer players Samantha Meza (United States), Diana Ordonez (United States), Belerica Oquendo (Puerto Rico) and Reyna Reyes (Mexico) will compete at the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship, which will take place beginning April 19, in Nicaragua.
The United States will compete in Group B against the likes of Costa Rica, Bermuda and Canada, while Puerto Rico and Mexico are both in Group A along with host Nicaragua and Haiti. The top three finishers will earn a berth to the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Meza and Oquendo were a part of the Dallas Kicks FC team that has claimed three North Texas State Cups, four US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) West titles, a pair of US Youth Soccer Region III Championships and a US Youth Soccer National League Blue title. The Kicks reached the finals of the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Championships, and Meza has twice been named to the US Youth Soccer National Championships Best XI team. Meza currently plays for Solar, while Oquendo, who is committed to play collegiate soccer at TCU, and the D’Feeters Kicks qualified to the 2018 US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Championships and will compete in the 2018 North Texas State Cup in May.
Ordonez was named the 2017 Gatorade State Girls Soccer Player of the Year and plays her club soccer for FC Dallas. The forward from Prosper, Texas won the 2013 North Texas State Cup with FC Dallas before finishing second in 2014 and reaching the semifinals in 2015.
Reyes competed with the North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) from 2011-2014 and was also a fixture on the South Region ODP team during the same time. The University of Alabama commit, who plays her club soccer for FC Dallas, competed in the 2013 and 2014 North Texas State Cup.
