Nicolai Calabria was born with one leg. But that did not stop him from playing soccer! While playing recreational soccer, his passion for playing evolved, and he sought an opportunity to play travel soccer for Dynamo F.C. in Indianapolis. Nicolai’s parents and Dynamo F.C. asked for the support of Indiana Soccer to convince the local travel league, referee association and the insurance provider that Nicolai should be permitted to participate.
Nicolai’s father convinced people that he could make Nicolai’s crutches safe for everyone and the petition for Nicolai to play travel soccer was approved.
As a result of their passion for pursuing a dream, Nicolai and his family received the Indiana Soccer President’s Award in 2003.
What Nicolai has accomplished since then is amazing. Members of Dynamo F.C who played with Nicolai (as well  as everyone who saw Nicolai play while he lived in Indiana) will be smiling when they see this video.
Congratulations Nicolai- what a great goal!
