GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 26, 2017) – Five North Texas Soccer teams advanced to the US Youth Soccer Region III Championship semifinals after the first day of quarterfinals. North Texas had seven teams play on the first day of quarterfinals, and nine more will look to secure a semifinals spot tomorrow. Teams in the Under-13 through Under-19/20 boys and girls age groups competed at Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Greensboro, N.C. from June 23-29, 2017.
US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) West winners in the Under-13 and Under-14 Boys and Girls age groups along with champions and runner-ups in the Under-15 through Under-19/20 Boys and Girls age groups joined State Cup Champions and select wildcards at the Region III Championships. Regional winners will then represent Region III at the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships held at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco Texas on July 25-29.
The North Texas Soccer State Cup is the first step in the US Youth Soccer National Championships Series. Boys and girls teams in multiple age groups earn their way by competing against the top teams in their state and region. US Youth Soccer State Champions and selected wildcard teams are eligible to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. The champions in the 13U through 19/20U age groups from each regional event will converge in the finals with the National League teams.
Under-14 Girls
Neither Dallas Texans 03 (TX-N) or Tennessee SC Showcase (TN) were able to find the back of the net in regulation or extra time – requiring the match to be ended in kicks from the mark. Tennessee SC would ultimately prevail to advance to the semifinals.

Under-15 Girls
Regulation would not be enough time to separate Solar Chelsea 02 Grado (TX-N) and 02 CASL North (NC) after both sides found the back of the net twice in the first 80 minutes. Solar Chelsea would ultimately find the game-winner in the second period of overtime to the secure the 3-2 win and a trip to the semifinals. Gabrielle Lovkvist, Erin Chung and Irma Artunez all scored for Solar, who will play LSC 02 Red (TX-S) in the semifinals.

Solar Chelsea 02 Naizer (TX-N), who tied LSC R02 Red on the second day of group play, defeated MS Rush Premier (MS) 3-1 thanks to goals from Izabella Curiel, Hannah Dorsey and Kaleigh Naizer. Solar Chelsea Naizer will take on 02 CSA North-Cab (NC) in the semifinals. Solar Chelsea Grado tied CSA North on the first day of play.

Under-15 Boys
Solar Chelsea 02 Stricker (TX-N) recorded its fourth shutout in as many days as the four-time North Texas Soccer State Champions defeated Ives Estates Thunder (FL) 1-0 to advance to the semifinals. Richard Garcia scored the lone goal of the game, and Solar will play Oklahoma FC 02 (OK) in the semifinals.

Under-16 Girls
Dallas Texans 01 (TX-N) fought back from a 1-0 second-half deficit to tie things at one apiece before the end of regulation. Adrienne Bland netted the equalizer in regulation and the game-winner in extra time to give Dallas Texans the 2-1 win. The North Texas State Cup Champions will play SLSC Cosmos 01 Lawless (OK) in the semifinals.

Under-16 Boys
Solar Chelsea 01 Elite (TX-N) advanced to the semifinals after a narrow 1-0 win over KSA 01 Pro Profile (GA) in the quarterfinals. Cade York’s free-kick goal found the back of the net in the second half, and the Solar Chelsea defense shut out a team that scored 10 goals in three group play matches. Solar will face the only other team who scored more than eight goals in group play, TSCH 01 Miller (NC), in the semifinals.

Solar Chelsea 01 Stricker (TX-N) was unable to outlast 01 CASL Red North (NC) in a match that went down to goalkeepers shooting in kicks-from-the mark. Owen O’Malley and Dylan Lane scored for Solar Stricker.
