Five North Texas Soccer players called into U.S. Men’s Youth National Team Summit

FRISCO, Texas (Jan. 10, 2018) – U.S. Soccer Youth Technical Director Tab Ramos called in 153 players from the U.S Soccer U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20 Men’s Youth National Teams. Among those called in are five North Texas Soccer players, who convened in Lakewood Ranch, Florida from Jan. 2-11.

Paxton Pomykal, Blaine Ferri, Ben Redzic, Dante Sealy and Ricardo Pepi all attended the camp. Pomykal, Redzic, Sealy and Pepi all play their soccer with FC Dallas, while Ferri is representing Solar Soccer Club. The camp will feature a series of matches between the U.S. squads and against local clubs.

Pomykal was the 15th Homegrown players signed by FC Dallas. The midfielder was called into the U-20 USMNT camp after travelling to Spain and Slovakia with the U-18 USMNT team last year. Pomykal also was a member of the FC Dallas squad that won the Gordon Jago Super Group at the 2017 Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVIII. The Highland Village, Texas native competed in the North Texas Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) in 2011 and competed in the 2011 North Texas Soccer State Cup with Dallas Texans before joining the FC Dallas Youth system.

Ferri will compete with the U-19 USMNT after starting in four and appearing in all five of the U-17 USMNT matches at the Under-17 FIFA World Cup, in which the United States reached the quarterfinals. Ferri, a Southlake, Texas native, plays his youth soccer with Solar Soccer Club, where he reached the semifinals of the 2013 US Youth Soccer North Texas State Cup. In addition, Ferri is a North Texas ODP alum and participated in US Youth Soccer Region III ODP Camps.  

Redzic was called into the U-17 USMNT after previously competing with the U-15 squad in 2015.  The midfielder from Carrollton, Texas competed with FC Dallas 02 Premier in the 2014 and 2015 North Texas State Cup, and reached the semifinals in 2014.

Sealy and Redi were among those competing in the U-16 USMNT. Sealy is fresh off representing the U-17 USMNT at the 2017 Nike International Friendlies, where he made two appearances, including a start in the second match against Netherlands. The forward from Frisco, Texas reached the finals of the 2014 North Texas State Cup and played in the 2015 group stage with FC Dallas. Sealy has also played in the CCSAI Classic League from 2013-16. Pepi is an El Paso, Texas native who attended multiple U-14 USMNT camps last season. Pepi also won the U-16 age group of the 2017 Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVIII.
