October began a great journey for many teams as they began the #ROADtoTX, otherwise known as the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. The National Championship Series begins with the Nebraska State Cup, where winners then move on to Region II Championships for a hope to win and head to Nationals. We have sent a team all the way through to Nationals the last 2 years (you may remember Gretna’s U19 girls winning Nebraska first National Championship in 2015), and teams this year are determined to be the next team to make history.
Due to the high school soccer season, 15U-19/20U teams played their State Cup this October for the 2017 National Championship Series. This fall boasted almost 70 teams, higher than the average 50 or so teams each fall. Event growth also showed with teams from Kearney and Lexington making an appearance, something we hope will continue for future tournaments.
13U and 14U teams will compete early June and all State Cup Champion teams will be representing Nebraska at Regional II Championships in Souix Falls, SD in late June.
