Job Description

Job Title: Executive Director

Reports to: President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: Negotiable

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Ohio North Board of Directors and under the direct supervision of Board President, administers nonprofit youth soccer state association program as a business and a service to youth soccer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes but are not limited to the following:

Confers with Board of Directors, staff, national organizations, leagues, individuals, groups and committees to implement and extend organization’s visions, goals, programs, and services.

Maintains relationship with Positive Coaching Alliance and helps to arrange workshops and courses throughout Ohio North.

Implements and contributes continuous constructive enhancements to Ohio North business plans.

Provides information and identifies strategic issues to board to ensure that the board has the proper information needed to make decisions.

Become a vital part of the Ohio North community.

Interprets organization programs, policies and practices to soccer and other public and the community groups.

Conducts the daily business of the association in the matter of monitoring and enforcing contracts, contracting or supplies and services, payment of invoices and bills, maintaining appropriate financial records as required to maintain nonprofit status with the United States government, incorporation status with the State of Ohio Secretary of State and charitable organization status with the Ohio Attorney General.

Responsible to reach a growth in membership by 2-3% each year.

Provide support to Leagues and Clubs while encouraging and enabling the leagues to provide a safe, positive environment for players to play in.

Advises and works with the Board of Directors to ensure quality of programs and services and effective use of resources.

Contributes to the Ohio North e-Newsletter and other social media platforms.

Coordinates Ohio North volunteer committee activities.

Interprets and reviews Ohio North constitution, bylaws, rules and regulations and policies for member leagues, clubs, teams, players, coaches, managers, administrators and others.

Interprets and reviews Ohio North constitution, bylaws, rules and regulations and policies for the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis but no less than every two years.

Maintains positive relationship and causes compliance with membership in parent and other organizations of which Ohio North is a member: USSF, US Youth Soccer, Region II of US Youth Soccer.

Responsible for training, guiding, providing support and encouragement to volunteers and groups.

With Treasurer and President develops financial goals and budget and recognizes and assesses key indicators of financial health of the association throughout the year including reviewing annually the employee pension and healthcare programs and makes recommendations.

Develops and modifies personnel policies, benefits, job descriptions, recommends new positions.

Completes annual personnel reviews.

Compiles and maintains membership records and data on members.

Prepares written materials for member leagues.

Assists leagues to ensure that league documents meet USSF, US Youth Soccer and Ohio North requirements.

Presents information to unaffiliated organization(s) for the purpose of becoming affiliated or associate member(s).

Oversees the web page and social media for current and updated materials.

Represents Ohio North in and outside of the soccer community.

Obtains corporate alliances, sponsorships, and fulfills sponsorship agreements.

Seeks and obtains grants and oversees development opportunities.

Maintains relationship with Chamber of Commerce(s) and Rotary Club(s).

Liaison to business and soccer community.

Manages an Intern Program to train the next generation of administrators by maintaining relationships with local colleges.

Must be able to travel overnight on association business. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises all office staff both full and part-time employees, and contractors employed by the Director of Operations, however, does not supervise the Technical Directors and player development program staff. Develops a cooperative team spirit in the office. Supervises all financial aspects, including budget of the association. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Works with the Technical Director to develop programs and budgets in the coaching area.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree (M.A., M.B.A, M.S., M.Ed.) or experience equivalent; or six (6) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has experience in managing an office of five (5) or more people and five years organizational or business development experience.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS and MANAGEMENT ABILITY

Ability to demonstrate decisiveness, self-motivation, and exemplary leadership skills.  Ability to facilitate and adapt strategically to changing markets and implement vision of the Board to address the growth of soccer. The Director of Operations should consistently demonstrate the following behaviors:  trust, compassion, integrity, honesty, dignity, fairness and respect.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to membership, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to read, write and interpret document on policies and procedures. Ability to explain to the Ohio North public base procedures for enrolling in various programs. Ability to understand, use and train on various computer software and hardware system and databases. Ability to use the Internet and manage the web page.

Ability to write clearly about complex issues for public understanding. Ability to write persuasive communications to further the goals and objectives of Ohio North.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

BACKGROUND

Must have no felony convictions in the past twenty-five (25) years and be able to pass a background check and bonded.
