Eighteen North Texas teams begin National League season

Eighteen teams will represent North Texas Soccer in the 2019-20 US Youth Soccer National League season, which begins Nov. 24 with games in the 14-Under Girls Division. The National League, entering its 13th season, is home to US Youth Soccer’s top 14U through 19U Boys and Girls teams, with each side having an individual proven track record of continued success in US Youth Soccer programs.

Of the 18 North Texas teams that will compete, nine teams will be making their National League debut. 14-Under Girls FC Dallas 06, DKSC 06 Girls and FC Dallas 06 West will compete in the youngest age group on the girls side, while 2019 Southern Regional Champions FC Dallas 06 Premier will play its first season in the 14-Under Boys age group. 2018-19 Frontier Conference champions 19-Under Girls Dallas Texans 01 Red, 16-Under Girls Solar 04 Rundell, 15-Under Boys DKSC 05 Carrillo and 2019 National Championships semifinalists 17-Under Boys FC Dallas 03 Premier will get their first taste of National League play. As will recently crowned 2019-20 Frontier Conference champion Solar 03 De Leon and 18-Under Girls Solar.

A pair of North Texas teams will be entering National League play as defending National League and US Youth Soccer National Champions, as 15-Under Girls DKSC 05 Black and 18-Under Boys Solar 02 Castro will look to defend their respective titles. National League veterans 19-Under Boys Solar 01 Stricker and FC Dallas 01 Premier, which faced off in the semifinals of the 2019 National Championships, enter the National League field for the final time with the hope of returning to the National Championships. 16-Under Girls FC Dallas 04 Blue, 17-Under Girls DKSC 03 Black Hilliard and 18-Under Girls Sparta FC 02 Elite, which all won 2018 Southern Regional Championship titles, also join the National League fray for a consecutive season.

The winner of each of the four National League divisions in the 14U through 18U age groups, as well as the top two finishers in each of the two divisions in the 19U age group, will earn an automatic berth to the 2020 US Youth Soccer National Championships, the oldest and most prestigious youth soccer national championship competition — to be held July 20-26, 2020 in Overland Park, Kan. The four National League representatives will join the four Regional Champions for a total of eight qualifiers per age group at the National Championships in the 14U through 19U divisions. Most recently in 2019 in Overland Park, Kan., National League teams won all 12 possible National Championships in those age groups.
