TULSA, Okla. (June 16, 2017) – Of the ten North Texas Soccer teams that began play at the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup, eight have advanced to the semifinals as North Texas teams went undefeated on the final day of group play.

The 2017 Region III Presidents Cup takes place June 14-18 at Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa Okla. The tournament will feature teams in the Under-13 through Under-17/18 Boys and Girls age groups with the winners advancing to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, July 12-16 in Auburndale, Fla.

North Texas teams joins other Region III State Associations: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Texas and Tennessee.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a state, regional and national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Chelsea FC SC 04 secured a spot in the semifinals with a 4-1 win over OFC 04 White (OK). An Eric Castillo  brace and Christian Valdez goal gave Chelsea FC a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes. Lucas Haivala would score Chelsea’s fourth goal of the game to win Group C while sporting a 3-0 record. Chelsea will play Alianza Gold 04 (GA) in the semifinals.

Under-13 Girls
FC Dallas 04 Central battled eventual Group A winners 04 CASL Jrs. (NC) to a 1-1 draw on the final day of group play. FC Dallas got off to a 1-0 lead, but a late CASL goal off a free-kick would result in the match ending in a tie.

Under-14 Boys
FC Premier 03 Green entered the final day of group play needing a win to keep its semifinals hopes alive, and that’s exactly what the North Texas side got with a 5-1 win against DC Galaxy (MS). FC Premier will face-off against MST United Stars (FL) in the semifinals.

Solar Chelsea Wells wrapped group play with a 2-0 win against MSK Rayados 03 (TX-S) courtesy of a Georgia Guenther brace. Solar finished with a 3-0 record and won Group C. Solar will next play Warner ASG (FL) in the semifinals.

Under-15 Boys
Dallas Kicks won Group C with a 3-0 record after earning a 2-1 victory against Arkansas Comets (AR). Things looked to be headed to a 1-1 draw before a late Kicks goal gave the North Texas side a 2-1 win. Dallas Kicks will play RGV FC Dallas 02 (TX-S) in the semifinals.

Under-15 Girls
NTX Celtic 02 McCallum completed group play with a 3-0 record to earn a trip to the semifinals after defeating Capital City United (LA) 3-1. Celtic’s Cassidy Savoy scored 10 minutes into the match, but United would equalize in the second half. Madison Autwell would score the eventual game-winner, and Fernanda Sarellano would add an insurance goal to finish the match. NTX Celtic will take on OFC 02 White (OK) in the semifinals.

Under-16 Boys
Neither Dallas Texans 01 Red nor OFC 01 White (OK) were able to find the back of the net, resulting in a scoreless draw on the final day of group play. Dallas Texans advanced to the semifinals after winning Group C and will play Sporting Arkansas 01 (AR) tomorrow.

Sting West 01 Jones moved to the top of Group A after a convincing 4-0 win against Florida Krush (FL). Next up for Sting will be a match against FC Dallas TRI (TN) in the semifinals.

Superior Aztecas claimed Group B and a semifinals spot after a 1-1 draw against Sporting Arkansas 00 Red (AR). In the semifinals, Aztecas will play against Lakeway Lighting (TN).

Solar Chelsea 00 Volkan finished group play with a strong 5-0 win against CRFC Sky 00 (SC) to finish the tournament with a 1-1-1 record.
