Day 3 of Spring State Cup

Well it snowed in May, but even that was not enough to put a damper on an outstanding day of soccer here in Salt Lake City. The fans were tremendous braving the weather that was downright chilly for most of the night. The players were even better as they battled not only the opposition but also the elements for the first time this tournament. Once again 49 games were played on 18 different fields, proving that not even the roughest weather can stop our outstanding players teams and fans. Like every storm, this one eventually ran our of rain or snow, and the last several games of the night had some of the most beautiful backdrops and skylines imaginable.

It was a great day for games as well as we get closer and closer to wrapping up the group play stage and teams start to separate themselves as contenders for the championship. Some massive scorelines were scored across multiple age groups, so check out the recap below to see anything you might have missed.

 

Day 3

Girls 19U

The pre-tournament favorites continued their roll through the group play with La Roca FD and 98 Celtic FC Premier both winning comfortably by 5 goal margins. If you are looking for a sleeper team however, L30 Crush Blue G98, coached by Dustin Taylor and former National Presidents Cup Champions, are tied with the two powerhouses at 6 points setting up a pivotal last group stage game between L30 Crush and Celtic FC to determine the top seed in their group on Friday at 4:00pm.

Girls 18U

It was a good day to be La Roca in the Girls 18U division as 2 of their 3 teams won convincingly by 5-0 scorelines. The one loss, was to another La Roca team. 

Regular season champion Utah FC 99G Black, is already through to the quarterfinals after winning both of their group stage games including yesterdays 4-0 win over Utah Storm.

Girls 17U

00 Celtic FC Premier rolled to a 8-2 victory over USA Metro Premier 00G RB, and bringing their two game total to 13 goals for and only 3 against, solidifying their pre-tournament status as one of the best teams and definitely a team to watch.

Girls 12U

33 goals were scored across the 6 games for an average of over 5 goals a game scored in what is turning out to be one of the most exciting age groups to watch. Highlighted by Sparta 05 Premier AS winning by 7-0, these group had great games with La Roca PO and 05 Celtic FC Premier also crossing the 5 goal threshold themselves.

Boys 15U

La Roca TJ is on fire. After beating serious contender Sparta in their last game, La Roca TJ dropped 11 goals on 02 Rangers FC Premier to cruise through group play and set themselves up in the quarterfinals with all of the momentum.

Boys 14U

It was a rough day for Rangers FC as their 03 Rangers FC Premier met the undefeated La Roca S CS and took a tough loss 12-0. La Roca S CS is through onto the quarterfinals with a goal differential of 20 after scoring 21 times and only allowing 1 in two games.

Boys 12U

La Roca S CS had a great day on the boys side as their 12U team also scored double digit goals in a 11-1 win over the 05 Rangers FC Premier. Keep an eye on this team moving forward.
