Day 2 of Semi at Spring State Cup

Sandy, UT (5/24/2017)

The semi finals have all wrapped up and we are going to have some incredible finals. The day was filled with plenty of intrigue as teams fought for the right to play for a championship. There were upsets, blowouts, and plenty of great games throughout the day. We even held our first championship game for the Girls 19U division. That game made us all hungry for more and luckily today we have 8 championships to be decided. The Boys 11U, 12U, and 15U will all play today, while on the girls side it will be the 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 17U divisions. Don't miss any of the action and join us out at the Regional Athletic Complex, first kickoff is at 4:00pm.

Final

The first final got underway at 6:00pm on Field 1 and it looked to be a great match as the teams had split the regular season series. They also met in group play where L30 Crush Blue G98 scored first and gave 98 Celtic FC Premier a scare, before Celtic eventually won 4-1. This game was not any of those previous games. Celtic came out firing on all cylinders and a 3rd minute goal from Siri Dahl put Celtic ahead early. The lead only grew from there as Celtic put 5 more past the Crush keeper including a brace by #11 Victoria Page. After 7 tries, 98 Celtic FC Premier were finally champions.

Day 2 of Semis

Girls 18U

The two favorites are still alive and strong as defending champion Utah FC 99G Black beat Forza FC 99 RP 3-2 to advance to the final where they will take on La Roca PO 5-0 winners over Sparta 99 Premier KL.

The final is the one we have all been waiting for pitting the top two teams in the age group against each other. Will Utah FC be able to retain their crown or will La Roca's momentum and form carry them to a title?

Girls 16U

Pre-tournament favorite 01 Celtic FC Premier cruised to an 8-1 victory. They will be playing Forza FC 01 RP who ended Wasatch Elite 01G TM's run in the semis with a back and forth 3-2 victory.

Will Celtic FC be able to add to their State Cup Championships? or will Forza FC be able to unseat the favorites and claim the title for themselves?

Girls 15U

Head coach Francisco Ovalle has to be a happy man after today as both of his teams, the 15U and 18U girls La Roca PO teams, scored 5 goals and move on to the finals. La Roca PO will take on USA Premier 02G PR.

The final should be a good one as both teams are in good form. They have also already played once this tournament back on matchday one. It was a game that La Roca PO won 1-0 in their closest contest of the tournament. It was also USA's only loss of the tournament. Can USA get revenge or will La Roca go 2 for 2 in the matchup, this time for the silverware?

Boys 14U

La Roca DC upset heavy favorite La Roca S CS 4-2 in the boys 14U division. After their younger teams played in the semis the day before it was the 14U boys turn. Once again La Roca DC came out on top. They will be playing Sparta 03 Premier SP, who dominated their semi final winning 7-0.

The final will pit two undefeated group winners against each other. Both teams have shown their class throughout the tournament and will look to emerge as the undefeated champion, but who will it be?

Boys 13U

Sparta 04 Premier JK finally met a team worthy of their talent as they took on Utah Storm 04- Bunce. The Utah Storm team gave it everything they had to the presumptive favorite before falling 1-0. As Utah Storm gets promoted from Premier 2 to Premier 1 for the regular season, we all have many more exciting matchups between these teams to look forward to. In the other semi, La Roca AV won 3-0.

The final will see the top two teams from the regular season go head to head as Sparta and La Roca do battle this Thursday. Can Sparta add a State Cup championship to their regular season success or will La Roca be able to topple the king and take the crown for themselves?
