ALLEN, Texas (Feb 13, 2017) – The Dallas Sidekicks continues its partnership with former defender and U.S. Olympian Doc Lawson as he brings soccer and safe drinking water through DonamiSport partnerships with THE LAST WELL and The Liberia YMCA to the children of Liberia, and today the organizations announce their 2017 efforts.
This year DonamiSport, in partnership with THE LAST WELL, is launching a 2017 program called FOLLOW THE WATER. To learn more go to: followthewaterliberia.org.
“I am committed to bringing recreational soccer and clean drinking water to every child in the entire nation of Liberia by 2030 – border to border, east to west, north to south,” Lawson said. “We also aim to share the YMCA’s Christian values.”
The North Texas State Soccer Association is proud to support the efforts of the two organizations and is excited to see how they can help NTSSA members enjoy soccer and assist people in need.
When the Sidekicks take on the Ontario Fury on Saturday, February 25th at Allen Event Center, the team will present a donation check to the FOLLOW THE WATER program. The Sidekicks are setting a goal of $5,000.00.
DonamiSport and the Dallas Sidekicks will work together throughout February to raise awareness of the effort in Libera, as well as provide the Sidekicks fans and general public several opportunities to support the cause. This will begin with Saturday night’s Toss for a Cause. Sponsored by Studio Movie Grill, Toss for a Cause gives fans at a Sidekicks match an interactive and exciting opportunity to win free movies tickets. 100% of donations go directly to Liberia YMCA.
“We are proud to continue to work with Doc and DonamiSport to help the people of Liberia through a sport we all love. Doc has dedicated his post-soccer life to something truly special in a country that desperately needs the aid,” Bob Heckel, Chief Operating Officer of the Dallas Sidekicks, said.
