Colorado Soccer Association and University of Denver Men’s Soccer program announce partnership to promote soccer statewide
     
Denver, Colo., -- (May 25, 2016) – Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) and the University of Denver Men’s Soccer program announce a three-year commitment to promote the sport of soccer throughout Colorado. The agreement allows for CSA and DU to work together to promote Colorado Soccer, the University of Denver, and provide opportunities for CSA families and member clubs to become a larger part of the Colorado soccer community.
“Colorado Soccer is dedicated to working with our state’s colleges and universities to promote opportunities for our youth players, coaches and families across the state to enjoy,” says Nate Shotts, CEO, Colorado Soccer Association. “We are proud to call the University of Denver a partner, and look forward to creating a sustainable partnership that benefits the future of soccer in Colorado.”
“We are excited to work with CSA on a variety of platforms to further stimulate soccer’s overall growth and continue to create excitement around the sport here in Colorado,” says Jaime Franks, Head Soccer Coach, University of Denver. “It is part of our duty here at the University of Denver to support all levels of soccer in Colorado and partnering with CSA is an important step for us accomplishing that goal.
“With 11 former Colorado youth soccer players on the 2016 roster, we believe that our student-athletes are great role models for younger players to look up to. This partnership provides the opportunity for our student-athletes to give back to the community and get involved with youth soccer here in Colorado.”

The Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) is a non-profit educational and service organization that oversees Colorado soccer. Providing benefits for players and members, CSA hopes to advance the game with critical infrastructure while promoting sportsmanship and fair play in a safe and enjoyable environment.
University of Denver Men’s Soccer qualified for their third straight NCAA tournament in 2015 after winning the Summit League Conference Tournament and the Summit Regular Season Championship for the third straight season as well. The program has gone 50-17-11 in the past 4 years which places them in the top 10 of all NCAA Division I soccer during that time period. They rose to a program best #7 in the NSCAA National Poll and were the only undefeated in NCAA Division I during the regular season at 15-0-3. They were awarded a #13 national seed for the NCAA Tournament and a first round bye for the first time in school history. The program has boasts a robust team GPA of 3.4 which has led to an unprecedented 7 straight NSCAA Team Academic Awards. Their team GPA ranks in the top 10 in the country.
The University of Denver is a private university with 6,000 students and features a strong blend of academics nested right outside downtown Denver. Conveniently located, the campus embodies a private school feel, but allows students easy access to all of the city's urban amenities through the light rail system. Students can be downtown in less than 20 minutes! The program is fortunate enough to have a new soccer specific stadium which is provides a great atmosphere to compete in.
