Christiano Boardroom Introduced at the Eastern New York Office

March 6, 2020 12:27 AM

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association

March 3, 2020-Peter Masotto was President of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) approximately 15 years ago when the dream of Eastern New York buying a building for its office was first discussed, at a Board of Directors meeting. Richard Christiano was at the meeting in his role of Trustee.

The dream remained unfulfilled when Christiano was elected as Eastern New York’s President in 2010. One of his major accomplishments during his presidency of the last 10 years was bringing fiscal responsibility to Eastern New York. The books being in order has enabled the non-profit organization to finally purchase a building, at 167 Nassau Boulevard in Garden City South, as our new home.

The Eastern New York staff moved into our new digs on November 11, 2019. The new office is much larger than the previous space we rented for decades in Rockville Centre.

In appreciation of Christiano’s never-ending efforts to see this dream become a reality, the Eastern New York Board of Directors surprised Christiano with a plaque for the “The Christiano Boardroom” at our General Meeting on February 29.

With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with nine leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/, which receives nearly 300,000 hits annually from the growing soccer community.
