April showers brought May 1st flowers, as our rescheduled games from yesterdays rain were played today in addition to other already scheduled Semi finals, it made for one great day of soccer. A great day, if you are a fan of the underdog and upsets as multiple higher seeded teams and pre-tournament favorites all bit the dust in a hard fought day of games.
The last of the semi finals will be played tomorrow and we also have the first of our championship games. After almost two weeks of competition, we are finally ready to declare our Utah State Cup Champions, see you tomorrow!
TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS
11U Boys
One of our groups that were playing quarterfinals today, there were some fantastic games, including a 7-1 win for Murray S.C. Black SM featuring 6 goals from Bracken Overby.
12U Boys
Another group with quarters, featured a great back and forth match between Sparta and La Roca S with Sparta winning 4-3.
13U Boys
One of the days upsets say the DPL Champion USA Premier 05B SA team lose 2-1 to La Roca S CS on two fantastic strikes. The final will be tomorrow against Impact CM.
14U Boys
Last year's state cup champions La Roca AV are out after a 1-0 loss to UDA. That sets up a great final against Sparta 04 Premier JK on Thursday.
15U Boys
PK's are the best, and the worst. Pre-tournament favorite La Roca S CS found that out the hard way as they lost to Sparta 03 Premier MD in a shootout. The final will be held tomorrow against Liverpool F.C.
11U Girls
Wasatch SC 07G ZB won 6-0 in a quarterfinal matchup.
12U Girls
Avalanche 06 Black CV won 4-1 to make it the finals tomorrow.
13U Girls
La Roca PO won 2-0 to make it the final against Liverpool F.C. tomorrow.
14U Girls
Utah Celtic FC won 2-0 and will face Avalanche 04 ECNL in the final tomorrow.
15U Girls
Avalanche vs Avalanche in the quarters saw 03 Black advance to the semis with a 4-3 win.
16U Girls
USA Premier 02G PR looks to take home a championship after a tremendous showing in group play and a 2-0 win the semi finals. They will play for the title on Thursday.
17U Girls
One of the big upsets was seeing Utah Celtic FC 01 go down to Utah Storm 01 Lewis in the first round of games today. Storm will play La Roca S ML in the final tomorrow.
18U Girls
Utah Celtic FC 00 had a closer than imagined game against Rampage but hung on for a 3-2 win that puts them in the final with USA Metro Premier 00G RB on Thursday.
19U Girls
La Roca PO and Utah FC both scored 6 goals to advance to the final on Thursday.
