Regional Athletic Complex- 4/28/18
Knockout games were finally here! Not for everyone, but the majority of age groups finally had win or go home scenarios. Quarterfinals! The remaining teams are one step closer to securing their spots at Region IV Championships in Hawaii and being named Utah State Cup Champions! The weather was fairly nice throughout the day with wind being the major issue, however nothing could dampen the competitive spirits of our athletes who battled all day long, sometimes including overtime. Sunday will be a day off before back at it for the glory on Monday!
TODAYS HIGHLIGHTS
11U Boys
One of the groups that wasn't in the knockout stages, the last day of group play was still intense as teams clinched their spots, including Wasatch Elite 07B SD who won 10-1.
12U Boys
Shootout winners, Forza FC 06B DN will take on Sparta 06 Premier SP in one semi final.
13U Boys
Another shootout, La Roca DC won to advance and play La Roca S CS, who won 2-0.
14U Boys
Defending champion La Roca AV won to advance to a semi final against UDA 04B Gray.
15U Boys
Pre-tournament favorite La Roca S CS showed why once again with a double digit quarterfinal win, 10-0.
11U Girls
Another age group without knockout rounds today, the big winner was United Academy ML who won6-2.
12U Girls
In the only non shutout game, Avalanche 06 Black CV won 3-2 over Avalanche 06 Black North
13U Girls
Utah Celtic FC 05 won 5-1 to take on a strong La Roca PO team in the semis.
14U Girls
Liverpool F.C. 04G SW won in a shootout to advance and play Avalanche 04 ECNL in the semis.
15U Girls
In an Avalanche vs Avalanche matchup, Avalanche 03 Black won 4-3 to advance to semis.
16U Girls
By far the hottest team in the tournament, USA Premier 02G PR scored 10 times to win and move on. But in even crazier news, National League and DPL Champion, La Roca FD was upset! This age group is now wide open, with Avalanche 02 Black North moving on.
17U Girls
Another big score as Utah Celtic FC 01 won 12-0 to move on.
18U Girls
Best game of the day was an Celtic vs Celtic matchup, which Celtic FC 00 won 3-2.
19U Girls
The last group without knockout rounds, but the group that also jumps straight to semis, congrats to Utah Storm, Sparta, La Roca, and Utah FC on making it here, and keep an eye on La Roca and Utah FC who both won convincingly 7-0 and 5-1 respectively.
