Day 2 at RSL Presidents Cup was just as perfect as the first one, in one of the better weekends of the year. Teams had fun and played hard all day in the perfect combination. With the first full day of games in the books there is a buzz around the city and the fields as teams get closer to the ultimate prize, a championship. Group play wraps up tomorrow.
U13 BOYS
With 13 games on deck for the day, the action was hot and heavy. On the second day of the tournament you start to get a feel for which teams are for real. One team that has looked particularly impressive is Liverpool F.C. 05B SG. After an opening day 4-2 win, they came back and dropped a 10 spot on their opponent today. With their 6 points through 2 games they sit on top of group D. They only other team with 6 points is Sparta 05 JH who are on top of Group E after scoring 11 goals and allowing 0 in their two games so far.
U14 BOYS
A good day for the teams located in Northern Utah as NUU Panthers 04 BS, Wasatch SC 04B WS, and Aggies FC 04B DC all won by scores of 4-2, 4-0, and 1-0 respectively. In fact, after today’s results all three of those teams are perched on top of their groups. They are joined by La Roca TJ and Elite FC 04B Black. All 5 teams will look to solidify their positions as we enter the final games of group play.
U15 BOYS
Groups B is going to be so much fine tomorrow. After all the teams have played two games, the group has two teams at the top of the bracket with 6 points, which means, tomorrow they play each other in a winner take all last game of the group. It is Sparta 03 CK vs L30 Northern United Elite Blue B03 at 7:00am at the complex.
U16 BOYS
With only 2 games yesterday, most of the teams played today, which has created clusters as teams move onto the last day of group play tomorrow. Provo United 02B looked good in their 4-1 win, while Blast 02 CS went one better in a 5-1 result.
U17 BOYS
In a name that will be familiar to many here at RSL Presidents Cup, VKCOBRAS is sitting pretty at the top of their group with 6 points and just needs a tie to book their spot in the semi-finals after a 4-0 victory against Utah FC 01B Black. The team will look to do what their counterparts the 02 boys did last year by making it all the way to Nationals after winning Regionals.
U18 BOYS
In the first day of action for the U18 all three groups had some good results. In group A, SWAT United 00B DR/JO are the big winners with a 6-0 win on their resume. In Group B you’ve got a fantastic match between Blue Knights 00 Premier JM and United FC 00 JM as they both beat UCSC Manchester United 00. Finally, in group C you’ve the potential for a three way tie on points as Liverpool F.C. 00B Red SG beat HVSC B00 Black Diamond SB who in turn beat Arsenal BN 00. If Arsenal can beat Liverpool tomorrow at 12:15 things get all sorts of fun.
