Beginning on May 3, 175 of the best teams from all around North Texas will convene in Dallas to compete in the 2018 North Texas Soccer State Cup. Teams in the 11-Under through 19-Under boys and girls age groups will play at Richland College and the University of Texas at Dallas fields with the hopes of claiming a state championships, and for the 13-Under through 19-Under age groups, an opportunity to advance to the 2018 US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Championships.
The North Texas State Cup is a round-robin tournament with group play taking place May 3-6, and the semifinals and finals matches occurring on May 13 and 14. Winners of the North Texas State Cup in the 13-Under through 19-Under age groups will join the 10 teams that qualified via the US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) to represent North Texas Soccer at the 2018 Southern Regional Championships in Greensboro, N.C. from June 22-18, 2018. Winners will then represent the South Region at the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships, which will be held at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas from July 24-29, 2018.
Last year, 15-Under Girls Solar 02 Grado, 15-Under Boys Solar Red 02 Stricker and 17-Under Boys FC Dallas 00 Premier all claimed Southern Regional titles with FC Dallas 00 and Solar Stricker reaching the National Championships finals. Solar 02 Stricker won the 2017 National Championships, and have already secured the opportunity to defend their national title courtesy of a first place finish in the 2017-18 US Youth Soccer National League White Division. Solar 02 Stricker is comprised of players who will be seeking a sixth straight North Texas State Cup title.
